At 18:00hrs local time on 16 August 1974, a ceasefire came into effect bringing the illegal, two-stage invasion of Cyprus by Turkey to an end. For 50 years, over a third of Cyprus has been under illegal occupation by Turkey. 50 years is too long. We want a #FreeUnitedCyprus 🇨🇾🕊️

On 16 August 1974, Turkey completed the second wave of its brutal and illegal invasion of #Cyprus. The Turkish military had advanced to occupy over 36% of the island - Turkey still occupies the same territory to this day. We want a #FreeUnitedCyprus 🇨🇾🕊️
