As husband & I are still grottily ill, we sent the 14 & 17 year olds off to the supermarket, with £100 & a list, to do the food shop.
They returned, THRILLED with themselves for only spending £30.
They DID buy everything on the list, but 1 person’s worth, instead of 7 🤦🏻♀️

I’m gonna climb up on a hill, & say it’s 100% ok to talk about periods in a kids’ film. Kids have periods, primary age kids included. Even if your kid isn’t one of them, they’re at school with kids who do. Ensuring it’s accepted as normal, does away with stigma, & embarrassment.

I once read a book that scared me so much, I finished it & immediately took it outside, took rubbish OUT of the dustbin, put the book in, then piled all the rubbish back on top, so the book was completely covered - then I felt safe that it PROBABLY wasn’t going to come get me 😬

14 year old just got back from a 4 day school trip to France. He bought one thing while he was away - a GIANT whale for his little brother, which he had to hold on his knee for the entire 12 hour coach journey home.

It infuriates me when so many people frame difficulties with food as a choice. I can’t imagine why anyone would WANT to be picky, ur fussy, about food ….being a kid (or adult) with limited safe foods is a nightmare. School, eating out, friends houses, holidays - all minefields.

Some of my kids attend the secondary school I went to in the 90s.
Back then we had a library, a librarian, school trips, all subjects taught by appropriate teachers, a nurse.
That’s all gone, & the list goes on.
Our kids don’t deserve to have it worse than we did.

2009, eldest started school & soon came home telling me one of her classmates had a new baby sister called Banana Rose. I was sceptical but, as there are kids out there called Apple, guessed it was feasible. Months down the line I was introduced to the kid - ALANA Rose 😄

My dad (a bit of a scruff) was turned away, as the only ID he had on him was an HGV license - apparently insufficient. After he left, the many volunteers who’d been trying to stop the person smugly refusing his ID, angrily pointed out that my Dad Is head of the parish council 🙄

Littlest kid has fallen for a stripey blanket, and keeps tottering around the house like a tiny crochet ghost. It has a pretty open weave too, so he just plonks himself in front of the tv like that - watching Hey Duggee through lots of tiny viewing holes 🌈

So far he has become a 10 year old who runs very fast, is a fab left-footed striker, doesn’t like sitting still for more than 10 seconds at a time but, has been “properly grabbed by books” since January of this year ...zooming through 40 titles so far 📚❤️

I’d walked into his room after midnight, thrown up & passed out.
He put me to bed, & slept on the floor.
We’ve been together 22 years & have 4 kids.

My 14 year old wears his PE kit to school every day, the school suggested it themselves when they realised how anxious uniform made him. The school has over 2000 kids, but they still saw the individual & made sure he was able to easily access education. EASY accommodation made ✨

We did it!
Me, plus all 5 kids, walked down to my parents house and sat, socially distanced, in their (very large) garden.
It was nerve wrecking, and I had a migraine by the time we got home, but I’m glad to have taken that first step out of total isolation.

First time in a high chair for the youngest today. This particular high chair was bought in 1953 for my dad, & would probably fail all health & safety tests, but deserves massive appreciation for lasting 67 years, & approximately 23 babies so far 💕

I’ve breastfed my youngest for the last time. Over 17 years, & 5 children, I’ve spent almost 60 months breastfeeding. No more tongue-tie, mastitis, infections, or bleeding nipples. Knowing that it’s over, I’m proud, exhausted, & a little sad.

Littlest was born just before the first lockdown, & my mum had been diagnosed with cancer not long before that. She shielded for many months, & through her long chemotherapy journey, we were able to meet very little. Now, every moment they can spend together is extra special.

Concern over Cummings’ child made it acceptable to flout the rules, whereas everybody else’s 4 year old children should be shoved back into school & nursery, for the good of the economy, no matter the risk to the health of them, their teachers or their families.

1) I have a newborn baby - I can’t also teach years 5,7,9 & 11
2) We’ll be 7 people in 1 house - my only plan is to try & keep everyone sane & happy

The first picture is my grandpa, who died 4 years ago, mending a door handle on Christmas Day 1997, so that Santa could make his traditional appearance. The second picture is my littlest, randomly admiring that same door handle today - it felt like he was seeing the past 💕

From my own family’s experience, if more mainstream schools made reasonable adjustments (reasonably - not like they’re making massive concessions!!), there’d be far less NEED for specialist places. However, the biggest problem, across the board, is funding - no 💰💰 for anything.
