@ferdilouw Haha I’ve tried all sorts of systems. Now I just leave it and at some point they start asking silly questions like “Where’d all the spoons go?” or “Have you seen my math book?” and I get to pull out this gem

@TheChrisW92 @xTheGoodNews The balance of teaching on the sufficiency of God’s grace, and the depravity of our world is so important.

18 to me: Why do we have to be an ingredient household? Me: What do you mean? I buy snacks. Him: Not really. We literally eat spoonfuls of peanut butter and chocolate chips from the pantry that have sat there for like 6 months. Also, I don’t want to make a sandwich. Me: But are you 250 lbs and diabetic? Him: No. Me: See? It’s working. Anyways, I feel like we’re not a strictly ingredient household because I’ll buy chips, and cookies etc occasionally. I just don’t keep that stuff on hand all the time. Also, a snack is like fruit or a carrot and a handful of nuts. Cookies and things are treats. Right?

I’ve been a born again believer for nearly 20 years. I just read the Bible, use a concordance, and look up the Hebrew and Koine Greek when I’m uncertain about the use of a certain English word. People use religious jargon and I’m over here like 🤷🏻♀️what a Calvin is, etc and then think to myself ‘Let’s see what scripture says’ and move on with my day.

The clouds decided to floof last night. 10 year old has a cold complete with cough, stuffy and runny nose. You know what works wonders on our immune systems? Fresh air and movement. So I sent him outside and told him to shovel the walkway between our house and my parents’. He’s learning a few lessons a) having a cold is best treated by fresh air and exercise; b) a cold is no reason to whine and be a needy little bugger (you’re welcome future daughter-in-law); c) we take care of our elders, especially when they’ve recently come home from the hospital; d) it feels good to do work and help others. NB: we’re not hoarders, my husband happens to own a landscaping business and we don’t want to pay for a storage unit, so we store all of his spring-fall equipment outside under tarps for the winter. And yes, my parents’ house is huge, dad worked very hard to pay for it.

@ThatRosaryGirl My parents have one for the cheap gas, better prices on cleaning supplies and toiletries, and certain products you can’t get elsewhere.

We divide the chores now. As soon as we’ve finished supper, one kid clears the table, 2nd kid loads the dishwasher, 3rd packs away the leftovers, 4th wipes down the counters and stove, and 5th washed the table and chairs. Husband sweeps up after everything is tidied up. Me? 9.9/10 times I cooked the meal.

When folks ask about white culture, this is what it is. All music in the western hemisphere is based off of this. Classical music is composed in such a way that the frequency of sound is always in the healing range, and it captures and transports your soul so that you can get entirely lost in its beauty and complexity. Not a single drum is needed, because the sound is full.

Yeah, it’s always fun when doctors assume you’re just an anxious mom, but really you’re an “I’ve been my daughter’s fainting-spell catcher since she was 6 years old in the most random places and not a single temper tantrum was ever involved in her fainting, and the normal amount of pain is 0, but her’s idles on 6 24/7” mom.
