A very difficult decision that I did not take lightly - in fact I believe I was forced into it by the leadership. Got my copy and pasted standard response making no reference to my concerns...

There are loads of great history teachers working to decolonise their curriculum and to teach about atrocities the British Empire committed and how these shape today. There are plenty who don't - not necessarily malicious intent, none the less it is part of institutional racism.

Just for the sake of my confidence, here are my new suits. A little worried they will make me stand out - but God it's nice to have suits that aren't Primark! They're actually light and I feel professional in them. Had a haircut as well so I'm far less scruffy!

Regardless, I'm looking forward to getting involved in Broxtowe CLP in a way I was never able to since moving here in 2019. I hope Marshall's more extreme supporters leave as a result of this decision and his more sensible supporters stick around to get a Labour MP in the area.

If they can't vote for Labour to unseat the Tories, when they're not having their safety threatened - then frankly they can sod off. As a Jewish Labour member in Broxtowe I feel safer as a result of them leaving.

@OwenJones84 @SarahKSilverman @EtanSmallman @nicolelampert @Baddiel I'm glad you approached scholars, and I'm glad some of them were Jewish. However, would you have done this had it been an accusation of anti-black or anti-asian racism, homophobia, misogyny or transphobia? Or would you have taken the marginalised accusers at their word?

So frankly, as long as he was the candidate I wouldn't be canvassing in my own constituency in 2024. Not necessarily because of him, but because hard-left Labour space still is not a safe place for majority of Jews. I'm glad he was blocked from running here.

I could not, in good faith, canvass for Labour in 2019. Not in Broxtowe not anywhere else. If someone asked me about Labour antisemitism, I could not honestly defend the party. It was institutionally antisemitic. Friends and family experienced antisemitism enabled by leadership.

Just over a year since Broxtowe's absentee MP showed us his total lack of judgement. Either he genuinely thought she would be a great PM, in which case he is dangerously incompetent or he thought there was a job in it for him, in which case he's a careerist.

I wish we were less tribal. In general and as teachers. Trad v. prog. Woke v. anti-woke. I wish we could stop assuming the worst in each other and listen to what other people have to say. Ultimately teaching isn't about being in a camp it's about doing our best to educate kids.

I voted for @Greg4Broxtowe in 2019, despite the fact that I gave up my Labour membership due to antisemitism. It is a two-way marginal, bellwether constituency and I could not tolerate voting any way other than @UKLabour as it would allow the Tories in.

We made it to our first #halfterm (independent study week). This wonderful bunch have worked incredibly hard and made a fantastic start @UoN_ITE @UoNSoE to their teaching careers. Bring on November.

Just spent 2 hours filing - top tip for future #PGCE students - listen to your tutors when they stress the importance of regular filing - I left it 3 weeks and look how much time I've used at once! Should be a lot easier to add to files now as I go.

Compared to the beginning of the year when planning could take me over a day of work! Another lesson to plan today but I'm no longer spending weekends anxiously trying to plan as quickly as possible - the confidence that it will not take all my time has made a big difference!

Really positive day today. Pupil pursuit of a few of the year 9s who I find challenging. Really solidified the importance of the first 5 minutes, praise and helping pupils to feel successful.

@IanPhillips2454 @UoNSoEHistory @ArthurJChapman @HolocaustCentUK @UCL_Holocaust For me it wasn't about them being a serviceman it was about them being Jewish. Remembering who they were beyond their service. The tradition is cited by rabbis in the 16th century so it's not that new and would have been practiced had they been buried in a Jewish cemetery.

Yes it is a parental responsibility to feed children. If they can't meet that responsibility or won't meet that responsibility who suffers? Children. The government have the power to stop children suffering. 1 million children will go hungry.

Very proud of my year 7s for doing their assessment today! Three paragraphs on why William won the battle of Hastings coming to a judgment and making a comparison. A lot of writing for 11 year olds but they all got really stuck in.

After a fire alarm went off Riddle, who is very much still a kitten, was a stress-ball yesterday and today. I read that classical music can help calm their anxieties. Currently sat in the living room with the cat listening to Debussy and finding my own stresses reducing too!

It's been an interesting break - perhaps not as restful as I hoped - but I am really looking forward to seeing my lovely #pgce friends tomorrow and getting back into the swing of things - ready for some #deep thinking, thoughtful discussions and lots of laughter

And tomorrow it's off to Warwick to meet my adorable nephew Isaac! He looks like such a character already and I'm just so excited to meet him.
