RANKING EVERY ACT I SAW AT BONNAROO 2024
THIS WILL BE A LONG THREAD
We have 47 acts (my personal record) to get through so let's start from the bottom to the top.
This is not an attack on this person or anyone who believes this but this notion that EDM is ruining Bonnaroo is ridiculous. 90% of the EDM is designated to its own areas and does not affect the schedule or who is on what stage. It's just looking for a scapegoat
@LiveNation
@Bonnaroo
@fredagainagain1
Bonnaroo is not going to turn into an EDM show or you going to lose all your veterans I'm basically a 20-year vet coming to this this property if it hadn't been for some cancellations I've been coming to this festival for 20 years would have been my 20th anniversary
2. Whyte Fang (
@thewhytefang
)
This might be the coolest set I've ever seen. Just the artistry and creativity on display was just unbelievable to see. She is the gold standard of what electronic music can be.
So since the Roo Clues are done and the lineup is probably next Tuesday, I guess I should post my final mock lineup for Bonnaroo 2024 before the real one gets leaked...
6. Chappell Roan
I started camping out around 11 on Which and it's one of the hardest things I've ever done. The heat was UNBEARABLE and since I was on the soundstage rail I spent a lot of time helping get people water and medical. And it's still number six even after all that.
@thewhytefang
1. Lizzy McAlpine (
@LizzyMcAlpine
)
This is one of the most beautiful and gorgeous things I have ever watched. I was on the verge of tears almost the whole time and did cry multiple times. This into Maggie into Post into T-Pain was unbelievable
I think something about the Bonnaroo Chappell Roan show people aren't mentioning is that she literally plays during the hottest part of the day on the last day of a four day music festival.
@Stevensully99
But Daddy I Love Him is quickly becoming one of the insufferable songs in her catalog because of fans like this. The "Bitching and Moaning" line is going to be used to absolve Taylor of any form of criticism
3. Post Malone
This really seems like a divisive set. I thought he killed it. This is the level of production a headliner should have and the crowd was eating it up.
7. Carly Rae Jepsen
I've been openly campaigning for this woman to come to Bonnaroo for years and she lived up to the hype. She just has perfect Roo energy and I'm so glad she was able to finish her set after the weather delay.
4. Renee Rapp
Can you tell I have a female pop bias? But Renee was just such a fun time. She did end her set early which seemed to be a common theme this year.
My Roo 25 Headliner Wishlist:
Who I would target based on personal taste
Friday - Missy Elliott
Saturday - Zach Bryan
Sunday - My Chemical Romance
Who they should target:
Friday: Lana Del Rey
Saturday: Tame Impala
Sunday: Phish
My Roo 25 Headliner Wishlist:
Friday - Tame Impala
Saturday - Cyndi Lauper
Sunday - Dave Matthews Band
Before anyone comes at me saying Cyndi Lauper isn’t headline caliber check yourself because she’s way more qualified and deserving than a lot of people that are being suggested
46. Fred Again...
It wasn't terrible I just feel nothing watching or listening to this guy play. The visual element was lacking for the 40ish minutes I was there though I heard it improved slightly once he got on the second stage.
The image on the left is all the male artists on the Bonnaroo lineup. The one on the right is all the artists that have a female in them. 68% of the lineup is male while 32% is female. Best ratio is Thursday with 55% men 45% women. Worst ratio is Sunday with 76% men and 24% women
Roo Wishlist:
Charli XCX
Kesha
JELEEL!
Beach Bunny
Magdalena Bay
Clown Core
Turnstile
Bearings
Amine
Skrillex
Porter Robinson
James Bay
Lee Brice
Maren Morris (or any member of The Highwomen)
IDKHOW
The Wonder Years
The Front Bottoms
I can keep going lol
How do we feel about this for Roo...
Thursday: some combination of Fisher/Tipper/Justice
Friday: SZA/Sabrina/Lana with Hozier and Glass Animals
Saturday: Tame with ASAP Rocky and Charli
Sunday: Zach Bryan/Green Day with Alanis and Vampire Weekend
I'm having this discussion in a roo group but I feel like Bonnaroo should abandon the rap headliner for a while. There are so many great options that would be on the second line or below that would be cheaper, sell tickets, and also make the lineup in general better.
23. Alison Wonderland
This one is going to shock some of you. It's this low mainly due to fatigue and the WITW stage not being that great imo. I will see this woman on a main stage with full production at some point. I'm manifesting it
Fully believe the reason we don't have a full schedule yet is because Fisher pulled out. They would have to fix both the Centeroo and Outeroo schedule because of his absence
20. Megan Thee Stallion
When Megan isn't even in your top ten you know you saw some good sets. This was exactly what you would expect from her set and it was very fun.
Manifesting we get the Outeroo schedule today with anyone other than Four Tet, Diplo, or Fred as the surprise Sunday headliner, Geese having a campground show before Centeroo opens, and Deadroom being a reasonable time🤞🤞🤞
THREAD: Ok y'all were not letting this lie spread. Fred's show was not packed. I stood in the back at Post, RHCP, and Fred at nearly identical spots. Post had the most packed show and rowdiest crowd. RHCP had a little less but still basically full with a tamer crowd.
So Bonnaroo needs to swing for the fences on this lineup right? You raise prices to this level and then deliver a lineup that has the same headliner and subheadliners that every other festival has. Honestly it wouldn't shock me. Bonnaroo has been playing it safe for years now.
41. Red Hot Chili Peppers
This was a massive disappointment. They prioritized deeper cuts and as someone who has never seen them before there were so many big songs I wanted to hear. 3/4 of them sounded fantastic though.
Sorry for the delay, Here are my thoughts on the Sunday lineup for Bonnaroo 2024:
Easily the best day this year and one of the best single days I've ever seen for Bonnaroo ever since I started going in 2018
@absolutelytiff
They can understand and appreciate why the cookout did what they did while also not wanting it to happen to them again. The two aren't mutually exclusive
I feel fairly confident about Blink 182 being at Bonnaroo this year but I keep seeing people immediately say they are out. Every time I ask why their response always comes off like " I know this guy who knows this guy that heard from another guy they are out". I just don't buy it
I love u big and I love u tiny 🤍 I am so proud of the magnitude that my tours have grown to be, but I will always love kickin it in a sweaty club with y’all and that’s why I do these secret shows. To keep your faces close. Thank you for last night!
The crazy thing about Bonnaroo potentially not selling well this year is that I think most acts they booked this year are a good fit for the festival.
Green- was a good booking
Yellow- a booking that I'm divisive on
Red-a bad booking
Grey- no idea if it was good or bad
This goes for any festival/concert. If you are at a show, especially if you are toward the front, you need to have some energy or something. Standing there like a statue kills the vibe bad
I’ve seen the messages, mentions etc re:
#Firefly
and whether I have any update on its return.
Well, I have a small (very small) nugget from my best Firefly source.
“There is a ton up in the air…but I’ll leave you with this. Image attached.”
That’s it. Interpret as you will.
Gotta think that Tame and Skrillex are the two highest priorities for Roo next year right? Like they are calling those two first and trying to get them to play multiple sets
One full month after Roo. I sure hope they are able to find a way to play this album in full
@bonnaroo
. Possible new music on the way is also got me wondering what they’d do. January is so close yet so far away 😣
19. Dominic Fike
Seems to be a divisive show but I'm a fan of his so I expected him to act like that. He was definitely not sober (for better or worse) but I had a good time.
Even with this news, I think Bonnaroo is set up really well. Renee popped off in January. Megan is popping off right now. Post is going to get a huge boost being on the new Taylor album. Cage the Elephant and Maggie Rogers will probably drop albums before Bonnaroo. Etc.
Very controversial opinion: A majority of the people who complain about concert prices only go to arena shows. Like obviously Taylor Swift and The Weeknd have insane prices they are some of the biggest people on the planet. Go support small, medium, and even large artists because
@TheFestiveOwl
And people still have the audacity to say that lineups don't matter. Years of good not great lineups (among other things) have made it where people will wait to see who is actually playing rather than being disappointed if they buy early
22. Grouplove
This was a shock (in a good way). I didn't expect this show to be that packed and have that much energy. Maybe too much energy as I saw someone get dragged out of the crowd after passing out.
