For Butt. For Jabrill. For Rashan. For Speight. For Chase. For Jourdan. And David. For the Hills. For Darboh and Chesson and Hurst and Glasgows. For Nico and Donovan. For Josh's brother. For Bredeson. For all of them. It's over.
Don't know if this has been mentioned but
@bradhawkins9
set the new record this year for games played for
@UMichFootball
.
He's suited up 56 times, passing Jordan Glasgow and Jeremy Gallon (53).

The good news is I spoke to some UM personnel who say stadium police caught the guy who tried to touch Tucker's head on camera, ID'd him, and escorted him out of the game. He won't be able to get tickets to M events again.
Nah... you can't be touching the man's head! Whoever that was deserved to get his hand smacked away. This does not belong being mentioned alongside the tunnel assault
Yes we are doing a yearbook.
Well, more like a three-year book.
It's gonna have original writing from
@mgoblog
and
@Alex_Drain
and myself and our friends, and all of the moments you're thinking about right now, and photos like this, and it's gonna be awesome.
I am not yet mentally prepared for Michigan to come out better coached, get a lead, get hosed on a terrible call, get cracked by Ohio State's superior talent, have a shot late, miss it, then hear after how Harbaugh can't win the big one, but I promise you I will be by Saturday.
Between the clean Alabama whites, the Michigan maize & blue, and the Rose Bowl, I submit Monday may be the most aesthetically pleasing football game of the century.
Most of you don't know this because you don't have a thousand wins, but when you get a thousand wins they can't all be pretty. When you get to a thousand wins you will understand.
@cjzero
"First career game-winning hold" is the line that makes me want to compile a list of greatest special teams quotes ever.
1. This.
2. ...oy this might take a lot of work.
I think
@PeteThamel
got taken for a ride. Rule 1-11 is "Prohibited Field Equipment" and has always referred to equipment used on the field on gameday. It would be a major, unprecedented stretch to apply it outside of that context. For reference, 1-12 governs headsets.
Sources: Michigan staffer Connor Stalions bought tickets for more than 30 games at 11 Big Ten schools over the past three years. Also, video evidence of sideline taping is expected to be sent to the NCAA this week, caught by stadium surveillance this year.
Welp. You could only expect people to do the right thing until they don't. Alabama has no business whatsoever being in the playoff and I hope Michigan ejects them with extreme prejudice. Leaving FSU out because their QB is hurt is a 1973 Rose Bowl-level atrocity.
Re: The John O'Neill crew. This isn't a one-game issue. This isn't a three-game issue. This is years of consistent, game-defining malpractice. This isn't just bad calls; their inability to manage personal fouls is the reason these games get out of control and players get hurt.
It's not always in the direction I want him to, but when Colson goes, he goes without hesitation or regret, and the results are always explosive. Best tackler I ever charted. The NFL is going to love this guy.
Sick of so-called Buckeye fans saying their coaches are so inept they'd go into The Game knowing UM had their signs and do nothing about it. If anything the tape screams the opposite: Knowles knew exactly what UM was doing in every crucial moment. Thread.
@Bry_Mac
Ohio State fans are being way too hard on their coaches, saying Michigan got their signs and whatnot. Here's the most important snap of the game and Jim Knowles has the *perfect* playcall here: zero scrape exchange vs zone read.
Brad Davison kicked Jones's legs out and was rewarded with a possession arrow and just elbowed Dickinson in the gut. You would think Big Ten refs would be sick of that guy making them look like assholes.
Is nobody else here worried that Ohio State, who never cheats, is going to be hampered in their efforts to find a better quarterback by the NCAA's rules against tampering and using NIL as an inducement?
When so many programs in the Big Ten East are quick to trade their integrity and the safety of those around their programs for a better shot at winning, please remember that Kevin Wilson was the best IU coach in 50 years and they fired him immediately. Good institutions do exist.
You likely missed this while distracted by FSU, Florida and Miami getting outbid by Ohio State for the nation's top high schooler, and other signing day storylines, but the NCAA issued a Lvl 1 violation to Harbaugh for not remembering if he bought a recruit a cheeseburger today.
Jim Harbaugh faces a Level I violation for “providing false or misleading information” related to impermissible contact with recruits during the COVID dead period.
I don't think so. We've played over 90 seasons this way, including 50 Ohio State games, with nothing more thrown than words or a sandwich. The problem here isn't that football's changed; it's that Michigan State's culture hasn't.
@Misopogon
Isn't it finally time for U-M to address the elephant in the room and expand its tunnel to an acceptable standard for the safety of all involved?
(Not to mention logistical ease for stadium staff)
For example, look at the difference between Mich. Stadium and Coli tunnel sizes:
After much consideration I have decided to decommit from writing a basketball preview today and do this other thing. My heart will always be w tempo free analysis and predicting the same score as Kenpom, but sometimes you gotta do what's best for your family.
This ad with my name on is going out in today's metro-Detroit Jewish News. We include Dems, libertarians, even an aide to a GOP rep. I wanted to explain why we purchased it, why most of us who grew up with
@LenaEpstein
are strongly urging voters to choose anyone else.
I'm broken about Ronnie Bell. But don't tell me about using him on punt returns. DPJ returned punts. Peppers returned punts. Punt returns are rare and that injury to a punt returner happens about once a Mike Hart fumble.
One thing that bothered me: Who's asking Jim Harbaugh why he doesn't have better players? I like that our press room isn't filled with Graham Couch sycophants but what are you expecting coach to say, "Najee Harris woulda converted that 4th down?" Fuck off with that question.
Gattis probably suggested to Mike Locksley that he shouldn't try to cut an agile guy like Mike Danna on a crucial passing down, but there's a difference between suggestions and decisions.
Words matter. "Brawl" and "Scuffle" and "Ruckus" and "Scuffle" and "Dustup" etc. convey equivalency and downplay the severity. "Assault" is the most accurate description of the recurrent mob violence from the Michigan State football program.

It's 18 kyrs old!
So far, we have sequenced it's genome to 2X coverage. But we still can't say if it's a

More sequencing needed!

The thing about facing Washington is I have very little in the hate bin for them. The fans of theirs that I've interacted with have been almost universally pleasant. They're a wonderful school in a city I love visiting. And I've been a big DeBoer fan since before he was at IU.
Since this story as a whole has gained more traction, Third Day Investigations has scrubbed any reference to Feliks from their site and replaced it with two women. Neither of which are registered PIs, neither of which have individual emails listed and neither of which are real…
Tom Izzo's victim-blaming is especially dangerous because MSU fans listen to him. If the school doesn't reprimand him for this, the conference should. Absolutely disgusting.
Michigan's reprimand, by the way, was for the fan who touched Mel's head, and was removed.
Tom Izzo said he is "completely upset" about the Big Ten's decision to fine Michigan State $100,000 and issue Michigan a public reprimand for the tunnel incident. Emphasized he doesn't condone MSU players' actions but criticized UM's management of the tunnel
Imagine being in the locker room after The Game, seeing how that affected the players you recruited, and then telling those guys you're off to help make them feel that way again.
When your RB coach is unavailable and you can just turn to the guy who coached Ricky Powers, Tyrone Wheatley, Tshimanga Biakabutuka, Chris Howard, Anthony Thomas, BJ Askew, Chris Perry, Mike Hart, Brandon Minor, Vincent Smith, Fitz Toussaint and De'Veon Smith.
@Bry_Mac

Everyone wants to rush to punish the schools caught in-person scouting Michigan's signs for each other. It feels unsportsmanlike. But sign-stealing is widespread, not that effective, and the rule they broke is archaic. At least wait for a thorough investigation.
One hour later I'm taking it a lot better than I thought I would. Anthony is going to be a star. QB1namara proved himself--no doubts. Team played well enough to win on the road vs a top 10 rival that got too many huge breaks, only a few of which were in Michigan's control.
The Spartan grievance machine needs to sit this one out. Whatever the incident on 10/7, it clearly wasn't an assault under a barrage of cameras after a nationally televised event.
It took less than a month for the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office to issue charges to seven MSU players following the tunnel incident. It sat on the Mazi Smith charges for nearly seven weeks.
Waiting for explanation from the prosecutor and Michigan football.
I've been through the videos frame by frame. Things I noticed by severity:
1. UW assistant Sharif Chambliss apparently tackled T-Will right after the Howard slap, clambering towards Howard. Chambliss went down fighting Williams, then an M staffer (Sanderson?) shielded him.
If Finebaum needs to spin this tomorrow he can say Alabama was so good by the end of the season that they were able to take the best college football team in the country to overtime.
Tomorrow we'll be hearing from Pete Thamel that Harbaugh is being investigated for defying his suspension, since being in the building virtually is the same as being there in person.
A show-cause to Macdonald? When Tennessee, LSU, etc got nothing? This is why you should never, ever, ever play ball with the NCAA. Unserious people should never be taken seriously.
WKU's Sainristil. This is exactly the kind of player I think Michigan is mostly targeting in the portal: Beloved, established grad transfers who are willing to compete for positions where they're graduating a guy.
Not that there haven't been plenty of opportunities already, but when the NCAA is an organization that can keep Sean Miller and Will Wade but not John Beilein, you've got to ask yourself whether the NCAA really ought to be in charge of college basketball.
Thank you so much to
@umichbball
for coming to visit us at
@MottChildren
's hospital yesterday.
My daughter came down to rep her brother, Jace asked what her favorite Michigan sport was, and she told him
@umichhockey
.
Chase Winovich is an amazing player and amazing character but his parents are easily my favorite Michigan family ever. Every game/road game/spring game they would be there, all wearing 15s, tailgating close to their boy, with a hug and a hotdog for anyone who said hi.
What sucks, Penn State, is all those Iowa fans are going to be so nice to you on the way out you're not going to hate a single one of them. Kinnick at Night is real.
Teams have the perfect playcall all the time and rarely get it from sign-stealing. It's tendencies. It's alignment. It's offenses using the same terminology for the same line calls. Signs are just one, and probably the least effective, tool.
