From here, check out my husband's brief explanation of how to fashion the shield. They aren't going to stop bullets but they are durable. They'll deflect dangerous projectiles such as pepper balls, rubber bullets, and gas canisters. -
I see a lot of people posting heavy plywood shields for protecting yourself. Listen to an old LARPER if you take a Rubbermaid lid and blue camping pad and use 3m spray adhesive you can made a huge, lightweight and durable shield for blocking rubber bullets and canisters.

Shield building became a lot easier when folks realized we could a light weight rubbermaid bin lid as a shield core. They weigh basically nothing. They come in many sizes. You can often but them separate from the bin itself. Just a few dollars for a lid. (2/6).

You can get the lids in various sizes. If you want something that covers your whole body, get a taller one. Make sure that you go for something like this. it helps if the core is one of the stronger varieties of lid. (3/6)

The lid is the core. Before adding padding, you drill or punch holes and install both a handle like in the picture which you will hold onto and also either a rope or a strip of leather which you will slide your arm through. Use bolts and washers on each side for this. (4/6)

Once the straps are installed, you will use layers of foam to pad it out. When I was building these, we used closed cell blue foam camping pads. You can get a roll of this for less than ten bucks. You'll also need 3M Super 77 adhesive spray. Also less than 10 bucks. (5/6)

This is why I cringe any time somebody who isn’t ND says all ND folks NEED a concrete diagnosis on their medical records. We have too many problems with eugenics to safely say the people in charge won’t one day decide that autistic ppl simply aren’t allowed to reproduce.
An Autistic parent recently had a full evaluation for her Autistic son to make sure he was getting all possible accommodations in school. The evaluator told her, and included in her paperwork, that she should get “genetic testing before considering any more children”.
