Shocker! Teacher union front groups in Illinois line up to yank away scholarships for poor and working-class families. And of course they go to their dried-up well of misinformation to make their case.

The @AFTunion should talk to people and groups that represent people impacted by their actions as well - that is common sense. Might I suggest parents for starters.

Activists who won’t send their own kids to the neighborhood public school shouldn’t be forcing other people to send their kids there either. Every parent, not just those in the well-educated activist class, should get to choose the best school for their child to succeed.

Even in a Blue state like Illinois, we’re finding that legislators are not interested in going back to their communities to explain why #schoolchoice was taken away this year. We have momentum thanks to our schools and families. Stay tuned!

Directly from the resolution: “Transition away from privatization and admissions/enrollment policies and approaches that furthers stratification and inequity in CPS and drive student enrollment away from neighborhood schools.” Idk Stacy, you tell me what this means then.

I mean, of course. Instead of paying the fair share of taxes that would bolster traditional public schools, billionaire philanthropists get to decide which schools are funded.

I spoke to ⁦ @John_Kass ⁩ about the “convenient equity” problem opponents of #schoolchoice seem to have. If we want true equity, the conversation has to include choice in education. #NSCW

The point is...yet again we have people, funded by teacher unions, who are actively working to take away educational opportunities from families who don't have the same ability to send their kids to a school that will work better for their needs. 🧵/end

Why do “school choice” advocates never advocate eliminating school district boundaries/funding schools by local property tax and allowing poor, Black students to attend white, wealthy schools in neighboring municipalities? They don’t really want choice, just privatization.

COVID learning loss was a policy choice. Catholic schools reopened and stayed open. Public schools failed to reopen as a result of teacher unions and willing “progressives.” Can you guess which students didn’t have a choice…
