@SteveMascord This is all generational change for sure. The internet is massive and there's more space for all sorts of stuff, plus the barriers of entry to write about it are very low. Anyone can start a blog, if you add value you get an audience, no media pass or player access needed.

@BradWalterSport @SteveMascord Also, fwiw, I don't think people care less about what players have to say, but players can now go directly to the punters through social media/podcasts without speaking to journos at all. Why ring up someone and get them to write about you if you can just IG it yourself?

@BradWalterSport @SteveMascord Players (and to a lesser extent coaches) are far more guarded these days. Journos can add value by analysing the nuances of the game, esp tactically - we do watch the game for a living, after all. Almost all the best soccer writing involves no players and nobody cares.

@CraigNorenbergs It's absolutely just hyperbole. UCL Final typically does double the Superbowl in global viewers. SB last year was most watched ever and still around half of a UCL Final.

@MartinJGabor If the Falefa Letoi listed for Panthers is the same one who played reggies for Easts last year, he's just about the biggest bloke in the history of footy. Get the klaxon ready.

@khalilkayalKK Like to think that, having followed Celtic's transfer dealings, you've progressed to the boss level with Spurs. Levy makes Lawwell look like a dynamic, decisive go-getter.

@aminucos Certainly - we only see the finish product. Kids enter systems young enough that they can be moulded to whatever suits their sport. Nathan Cleary isn't naturally 95kg, he's aimed at that weight. If he played soccer he'd be more appropriate for the needs of that sport.

@John_Michaels1 Brisbane (last time I checked at least...) not publicly available as they're privately owned, so I used Souths, but high chance you're right.

Penrith are the best run RL club in the world (and one of the best run in any sport)... Same turnover as Norwich City, currently the 31st best soccer club in England.
Dunno man, I'd say your main competitor for athletic talent increasing its budget for said talent by roughly 50x what is used to be somewhat takes it out of the hands of the RFL. If McDonald's suddenly paid burger flippers 50x what KFC paid, you'd not judge the Colonel...
