I spoke to abc Radio in Australia yesterday about threats to subsea cables, what we learn about undersea hazards, and how to enhance the resilience of the global telecoms network based on research supported by @NERCscience @NOCnews . One hour whizzed by!

Was great to host this event at @NOCnews with @SubseaCables @TheCrownEstate @CrownEstateScot bringing together 100s of people in person and online to learn about all aspects of subsea cables!

Really great two days hosting the @SubseaCables Cable Awareness Workshop at @NOCnews. I think everybody learned a lot and I got to touch some of the most broken bits of cable I’ve ever seen. Props to @MikeAClare for doing all the work and giving me half the credit.

Two cracking talks from @NOCnews colleagues @MikeAClare and @Jacob_Nash_Volc at a brilliant VMSG_MDSG25 conference. Great examples of why understanding volcano-ocean interactions are essential and how the ocean record of volcanic hazards can help us plan for the future.

Was great to discuss these topics with partners from Tonga Geological Services and Tonga Cable Ltd, and humbling to see the destruction caused by the tsunami. Huge thanks to our excellent field guide - @scronin70
