Blind fantasy lover here, and I disagree heavily.
There are many reasons disabled characters might not simply be able to “heal” their disability.
I think it’s important and inspiring when these characters are shown, and I would love to “see” more of them💛
It literally makes no sense to have disabled people in a fantasy setting:
1) Why can't the disabled person cast a spell on their broken legs that fixes them instantly so they can walk again?
2) If the mage's lower body is paralyzed rather than physically broken then why can't

We. Need. Accessibility.
My blindness means that I can’t just drive myself to a nearby studio. It’s not safe for me to visit unfamiliar places alone.
Remote allows me to work the same as my sighted colleagues.
I’ll fight until we’re all on the same playing field.
We need more accessibility in so many different industries.
Being disabled has made me painfully aware that the world is not built for me, and while things could be changed, people often don’t want it to.
It really hurts.
I will never stop fighting for accessibility.

Reading stuff like this makes me sick.
Don’t assume actors “aren’t good” just because they also have a disability. It doesn’t hinder the performance. It adds an extra layer to the character they are representing.
You can’t simply “learn to act like a disabled person”

Maybe focus on finding a good actress instead of some brownie points and the novelty? The actress being blind adds nothing, and probably hinders the performance more than anything, this is a FANTASY SHOW.
