The University of Alabama will rename Graves Hall to Lucy-Graves Hall. Autherine Lucy Foster, the first African American student to enroll at UA, will share the building name with Bibb Graves, the former governor and a former officer of the Ku Klux Klan.

I’m distressed that Jermaine Burton is playing for ‘Bama tonight. He punched a fan. (She’s female but assault is assault.) The video speaks for itself. He was unprovoked and it looks like he went out of his way to hit her. This sends a message to students on campus.

To recap what is happening here. The VP of Student Affairs at the University of Alabama was arrested for soliciting prostitution. I think prostitution should be legal. That said, it’s not. This is a man who spends all day around many students, many under age. This is disturbing.

🙂 I am happy about this award, given by our Board of Visitors, but I’m even more proud because I received it for a year in which I taught remotely, during a pandemic. Online teaching is difficult but I’m a huge champion of online learning.
Congrats to Meredith Cummings on receiving the C&IS BOV Award for Teaching Excellence! This honor recognizes a faculty member who is innovative in teaching a wide range of courses, prioritizes diversity in teaching & demonstrates a commitment to students beyond the classroom!

I was able to see (!) and FaceTime with mom tonight and it’s the first time I have seen her since mid-February. She says she looks awful but she looked beautiful to me. Today was a good day with more answered prayers. ❤️

Mom is out of the hospital! 🙌 Wow.
Lightning fast, she left the hospital (via ambulance because she can’t walk) moved to rehab, got off her IV and sat up in bed. Here’s a picture of mom and dad from Easter, 2019. These crazy kids have been married 56 years. ❤️

The April 27, 2011 tornadoes scarred and ravaged my state. They changed the landscape as well as those who call Alabama home. The violent, long track EF-4 tornado that churned through my Tuscaloosa living room killed 53 people. I walked away that day; many did not. 🖤
