I am standing as the SDP's candidate for Coventry South in the general election because I am not willing to accept the country we are leaving for our children.
Long🧵I'm standing as the SDP's Candidate in Coventry South. I grew up in Earlsdon in Coventry before qualifying as a Civil Engineer. I’ve built railways, factories, skyscrapers, thousands of apartments as well as 12 centres for 25,000 refugees in Bosnia during the Civil War./1
@JohnSimpsonNews

How does shutting down the North Sea Oil & Gas industry end our reliance on foreign Oil & Gas? Surely it increases our reliance on imports? You know Wind & Solar require full back up for night/wind free operations, right? This is like unilateral disarmament

This is the single most insightful observation on the whole gender dysphoria issue. Somewhere in an organisation where this ideology is being promoted relentlessly is a woman (or man) who will have transitioned her own son or daughter and cannot face the horror that they have

This is clearly correct. Critical theory has jumped out of the universities and into the mainstream and from its strongholds in the HR departments is having a chilling effect on freedom of speech. According to studies conducted by LinkedIn Britain has the highest number of DEI

So the old trope of the gender pay gap is wheeled out to cover up for the fact that labour leader cannot tell you what a woman is. How can there be a gender pay gap if we don’t know how to define what a woman is?
Some reflections on the 2024 campaign. Like many of you, I’ve bemoaned the capabilities of many of our MP’s. The nadir for me came in 2019 when Jeremy Corbyn parachuted a young lady with several years experience working at Primark into the safe Labour seat of

Care to explain the apparent dichotomy between encouraging more mass immigration and your apparent opposition to a mass house building programme?
#SDP
recognise that you can’t have mass immigration and solve the housing crisis. Simple.
That didn’t take long. If British companies can simply poach staff from abroad there’s no incentive to train our youngsters. Similarly the NHS steals trained doctors from poor countries rather than train enough of our own even though our medical schools are x6 oversubscribed
Labour have dropped manifesto pledges requiring UK companies to train and recruit British workers rather than importing foreign labour.
That didn't take long.
The indifference continues...
@wesstreeting
While you’re at it, why don’t you demand that the BMA stop limiting the number of new doctors being trained at British medical schools as part of a quid pro quo? My understanding is that medical schools are six times oversubscribed but the BMA insists on limiting the numbers

FedEx lost 10,000 of my 62,000 leaflets and tonight we discovered the post office are delivering my leaflets all over Coventry North. BUT… We talked to 200 to 300 Coventry voters every day and today was our best day ever in terms of the positivity of the response.

Tsunami of money from the poorest families using cards in their meters with highest cost/kwh going to wealthy investors/landowners via subsidies & still requires fossil fuel back up. No way to run an industrial society…. Unless of course that is not the aim?
The central plank of my campaign is to focus on bringing high skilled high value added high paying jobs back to the city of Coventry because “a rising tide lifts all boats” Our current MP, Ms Sultana, has used the platform afforded to her by the voters of Coventry South to focus
Today we held the inaugural meeting of the

Some of my volunteers struggle with the level of anger and frustration expressed by voters. It can be very raw and very real and not everybody can cope with it. I am absolutely convinced that the mass of elite opinion especially in London is totally disconnected from the majority

Correct - Michel Foucault, Gayle Rubin, Pat Califa and Judith Butler who provide the foundations of Queer Theory all wrote extensively defending Paedophilia - No doubts: no equivocation - they were definitely in favour of normalising sex with children.
With an awful lot of help from several SDP colleagues we got 65,000 leaflets ordered with delivery arranged by the Royal Mail to every home in the Coventry South constituency starting from the 13th of June.

We are seeing the breakdown of societal norms. Cocaine consumption amongst the middle classes in London are responsible for these battles and the deaths of hundreds of youths each year. They are utterly indifferent and callous. No demand = no need for battles in the supply chain.

Our politics were moderate. We both believed that if you worked 40 hours a week 46 weeks a year you want to be able to afford a modest home of your own. We felt that the government should be competent and not expand its scope beyond what it was capable of delivering successfully.
@LoftusSteve
A useful heuristic- Solar works well if there is 2000 hours of sunshine per annum (payback time for carbon embedded during mining/processing of polysilicates & manufacturing) and if the array is within 500km on a conurbation (transmission losses become too large if further away)
And that brings me back to our representatives who are, in aggregate, simply not up to the job. Would you hire our current MP for any serious job? I doubt it? We may not win this time, but we will put down the roots of a winning organisation having gone from 0 to 15 volunteers.
The public has responded positively to our common sense proposals. The British people are fair minded and generous but they have limits and those are being tested. They want cheaper housing, cheaper energy, more training, better paid & higher skilled jobs
#SDP
I’d encourage everyone to examine Labours disastrous energy policy. In the Industry people say that they haven’t yet recovered from Ed Miliband’s last jaunt as energy secretary but this time what he is proposing will undermine our status as an industrial economy.

One day there will be a reckoning for people who supported and encouraged the brutal medical transitioning of what in many instances were young homosexuals struggling to come to terms with their own sexuality. Your name will be on that list of shame.
Having held more than 4000 one-to-one conversations my assessment is that the public want an effective state that can get things done & struck off the ‘to do’ list. They are sympathetic towards LGB rights but reject broader identity politics & don’t want to be told what to think.
After the holidays, we’ll start to build for the next phase. We’ll build our social media presence across all four major platforms. We’ll create a Coventry wide SDP structure, contribute in the creation of national policy and locally we’ll recruit & start to train our members.
