Today I coached my last games on this field as head coach at Ecclesia College. It didn't dawn on me until after the games.
My greatest surprise was my wife taking a day off work and bringing my daughter out to surprise me.

We are overwhelmed from the support from this tweet. Our daughter is still in the NICU, they seem to have stabilized what was the cause for concern for now but she's not out of the woods yet. My wife is being discharged so we can go to the hospital they transferred her to now.

Rain changed our first fall scrimmage. So we improvised. Spent some time on pitcher/hitter interphase in pens. Hitters took physical timing and mental reps. Pitchers got quality pen work in with batters in the box.

Probably one of the coolest moments of this weekend (and there were plenty) was seeing our lone COVID senior Elijah Saldana hit his first ever college home-run.
He was given another chance because of covid while he finishes his degree, and he got at least one great memory.

Proud of our guys, played 26 innings yesterday and came back reporting at 7:30am for a 10am start and took care of business finishing the 4 game sweep.
Baseball finishes the sweep of Crowley’s Ridge College with a 5-3 win! Freshman Kyle Ramey earned the win allowing just 1 hit. There were hits up & down the lineup with Senior Caleb Wood going 2-3 with an RBI.

My nephew, who was just named a 3rd team D3 all American for football, got up at 6am this morning to get his lift in so he wouldn't have to disrupt the day opening presents and hanging out with us. That's what winning looks like. Prioritizing what needs to be done. Balance.

We are all inspired by Caden's attitude and work ethic. He considered hanging em up (twice) and are so thankful he's giving it a fair shot!!
He was a .300 hitter last year before the injury.

Most of these seniors have been here since day 1, those who transferred in joined the family immediately. This picture tells so much about the culture that has been built at EC and I am so blessed to be a part of it!
The Royals baseball team had a successful senior weekend honoring 10 outstanding young men. They will head into the playoffs tied for 8th nationally in the last regular season poll.
