Hi I am presenting on this call. Just for info - the invitation has been sent twice to the national membership database and branch boards have also been asked to share with their members. We hope that as many as possible will join (hundreds have already signed up).
Not sure if this has been widely publicised to the membership? It may be that @PFEW_HQ has circulated via direct email to their members? If not, you have to wonder why not. Surely not to keep it under the radar?🤔

@greg_ashman Proud of my record as a union leader - leading national action in 2023 to achieve the biggest pay rise for teachers in over 30 years. And much else. But expecting no plaudits from you and stepping away from the iPad now in order to enjoy my Sunday.

So it appears that the Tories are converts to setting a floor standard for teacher pay. During their 14 years in office teacher pay declined by 12%. Work load and work intensity went through the roof creating a teacher supply crisis the biggest threat to quality education.
Let me be clear on the measures in our Bill: The Tories left schools haemorrhaging teachers. We're restoring teaching as an attractive profession. That means a core expectation of good pay & conditions, with the ability to go further. In other words a floor, but no ceiling.

Spot on from Starmer.
Starmer: "I think only a few months ago it would have been unthinkable for the things that have been said about Jess Philips without all political parties and the leader of the opposition to call it out in terms...to condemn it...if you're not prepared to stand up as a Tory MP and denounce what's been said about her, then you need to seriously think about why you're in politics in my view."
