Very rare occurrence but I love stories like this.
Occasionally something happens in a hospital that is just transcendent. Our team took care of pt found down in VFib. Multiple failed shocks. Arrived w/ Lucas device doing CPR. Cannulated for ECPELLA. Normal coronaries. Still could not be defibed. But the pt was very very cold. There’s an old adage in medicine that says you’re not dead until you’re warm and dead. Warmed via the ECMO circuit. Then after 3 hours of VF we got NSR. Responsive that afternoon. Awake, extubated 2 d later. Every now and then you win one.
