The effect of controlling for unobserved familial confounders (đŠ) vs. conventional analysis (đ§) on the fraction of preventable CVD cases associated with hypothetical interventions that shifts the populationâs level of cardiorespiratory fitness.
For example, while BMI and blood pressure remain virtually the same, the link between cardiorespiratory fitness and future CVD is almost halved. Have observational studies overestimated the importance of cardiorespiratory fitness (and physical activity) for CVD? Maybe! 7/n
