A decade after Sisi coup, my book comes out! The book explains exactly how Sisi operates and what makes his regime so different, and so dangerous, compared to those that came before. This book is dedicated to the regime`s victims, and for those who hope!
One more for the history books. When the time comes, and things change, this will be an event that Egyptians point the finger to Europe and say " you were a part of our oppression ".

As an Egyptian, I have to wonder if people like me fit in this logic. The Egyptian military dictatorship has received billions in aid and weaponary from the US, EU, and the IMF. Does democracy also apply to non-Europeans? Or is it the privilege of the West?

More parise from Dr.Roaxne Farmanfarmaian "Striking and beautifully written analysis of Egypt under Sisi. It is a shocking, meticulously documented account of the complete militarization of the state, which Mandour subtly reveals is also ruinously brittle"
@Alaabayoumi
Sisi seems to be obsessed with the Chinese model, more specifically Mao's great leap forward. Putting aside his ignorance of effects of Mao's policy, Sisi doesn't have anything like the CCP. Yes men and half educated generals don't constitute a political apparatus.
Egypt president Sisi: “I realize the extent of suffering .. and I appreciate Egyptians’ resilience even more. Don’t we eat? We eat. Won’t we drink? We drink, and everything is functioning. Things are expensive and some things are not available. So what?”
The regime plans to exchange 38% of its foreign debt for state assets. This currently stands at 60 billion USD, more than the targeted 40 billion USD over 4 years. A massive amount by Egyptian standards, would probably entail the end of the public sector as we know it.

A decade into the Sisi Presidency I examine what awaits the Egyptian economy. Entrenched poverty, systematic deprivation, and untold economic damage that will take years to overcome.
I think that German officials have to understand that they have inflicted untold damage to thier global standing for years to come. The German state is now like a madman, ranting in the streets in its underwear. No one is listening

Excellent mental gymnastics. From command and control center to a presence in one swoop. I'm not a legal expert but I doubt that a " presence " is enough for the hospital to lose it's protected status.
The fact that absolutely no one at the

has a more permanent presence there.

After massive investments in power stations, the Egyptian government is cutting power in planned intervals. Presumably this is to save natural gas for export in the midst of a severe hard currency shortage. Billions were wasted in power plants that now lie idle.

A senior German editor doesn't see journalist here, arguing that the reporters are working for a Hezbollah mouth piece. I will leave this here when journalists working for western media outlets are killed using the same logic.
Was shocked after the first tweet and relieved after the second.
Almayadeen channel is Hezbollah’s house propaganda channel and has nothing to do with journalism. These reporters were probably embedded with the Lebanese terror group, attacking northern Israel on behalf of Iran.

Shows the depth of the currency crisis. In effect, Egypt is now at the mercy of global market fluctuations as never before, with the lives of millions hanging in the balance
Couldn't be more ironic. This , effectively, implicates the US in a large number of crimes. From bombing civilians in Yemen, to ethnic cleansing in Gaza, and mass torture in Egypt.
'They're supplying the weapons,' Biden holds Iran responsible for drone strike. As in: those supplying the weapons are often complicit in what their clients do with them, especially when they know what their intentions are?

Partially agree. The IMF, international capital, and the regime's allies did play a critical role in current crash. But important to keep in mind that the root of the crisis is the regime's militarised state Capitalism. A policy decision that lies with Sisi.
It's hard to write about Egypt b/c it's not possible to ignore the huge role that the world's unjust economic system has played in crashing Egypt.
Most journalists/analysts don't want to be called state apologists. So we're stuck with the shallow "Sisi is incompetent" story.
The remarkable thing is the inability of Arab States to be effective players in a war that could lead threaten. The Arab allies of Israel are unable to rein it in, and the allies of Iran are now open to Israeli attacks even more. Almost total impotence
Another long-awaited devaluation of the Egyptian pound has arrived. We'll see where it settles, and whether this is a real float or not. But trading around 50 now, the EGP has lost almost 90% of its value since Sisi took office

@SayighYezid
, Sisi has presided over significant change in the role of the military in Egyptian politics. Egypt has now become a military dictatorship, in a way that is unique in its modern history.
