This good, this quickly? The sophomore season from Maddy Shirley was no surprise to those in the program based on how she competed every day. On the Courier & Press All-Metro Player of the Year:

🚨RECORD ALERT🚨
(So.) Maddy Shirley has broken out single season scoring record by 1 point. This season she posted a total of 493 points, breaking
@Zurisanders30
record of 492. Congrats
@MaddyShirley51
Central 51, Jasper 38 Final
Maddy Shirley 20 points 15 rebounds, Mya Skelton 10 points. Also big games from Bryanna Dockery and Lindsey Laine.
Central vs Castle in semifinal
Shirley was the best player in the city. A high release on her shot makes her difficult to defend. Showed the ability to hit the open 3 and attack the rim off the dribble. Elite court awareness makes her a matchup nightmare. Defends the paint well, rebounds, and blocks shots.
Maddy Shirley of Central was voted the Courier & Press Athlete of the Week for Jan. 29 - Feb. 3. The sophomore received 42,736 votes.
Shirley averaged 18.3 points and 15.3 rebounds in three sectional games
Maddy Shirley did a lot of dirty work for her team over the weekend on the glass and defending the paint. Elbow J and post fade were hitting the entire tournament…
2026 6'1 F Maddy Shirley (
@MaddyShirley51
) did a very nice job today with the ball in her hands. She's a versatile player with some length and can knock shots down out to the perimeter. Solid prospect in the 2026 class.

2026 6'0 F Maddy Shirley (
@MaddyShirley51
) was very active today with the ball in her hands. I liked her willingness to defend and I thought that she showed the ability to attack the basket hard with the ball.

I wasn't able to make it to the Shamrock, but talkes to some folks about the event. Shirley was a name that was mentioned numerous times. Love seeing local kids go and demonstrate their talent at a high level. Shirley looks to continue her dominance on the Adidas 3SSB circuit.
The Top-100 will be June 15th at Ben Davis, and due to the new WBB scholastic live period, there will be D1 coaches in the building for the first time in a few years. Attached is a list provided by the IBCA of who is expected to attend.
Congratulations
@MaddyShirley51
on your new single season record!
493 points and 61 blocks in one season at Evansville Central, wow!
We can’t wait for our upcoming season!
