@Grimezsz Social media takes up way too much short term memory and wastes so much energy processing needless things. This compounds over time. Taking a long break from social media is probably the best thing anyone can do for mental health.

It is catastrophic that America (and most other countries) to expect their citizens to care about their country when most hold no equity in it - no property, no assets, nothing. Why would anyone be vested in the success of something if they don't benefit from its success?

@Austen The purchase of “published metadata” in a digital product that’s value is cultural. If the belief is that culture is moving almost entirely to the internet or an even more virtual layer of “the metaverse” you want to find a way to title those authentic cultural bits.

Perhaps the reason trad culture has felt so stagnant over the past half decade is because change is often cringe. W/ so many observing in real time (via social media) we stay away from taking risks and not allowing much to develop naturally (which takes time).

@liminal_warmth WW2 had a far greater societal impact than people at the time cared to admit. 20 year olds in 1945 would’ve been 50 in 1975. A brutal war that massacred millions probably had a hell of a comedown and reaction that was never properly addressed.

@micsolana Just imagine how productive America could be if it didn’t spend as much on the military as the next seven largest spenders combined. It’s really not out of the question to start caring tangibly for citizens once you change your priorities to a *reasonable* level.

A lot of thoughts I’ve been dancing around that really take shape circling game design / fan fiction / economics. I fundamentally believe without the material object the only value will be in narrative. The virtual space is entirely comprised of immaterial objects. Only lore.

There is a non-zero chance that many of our decisions are based more on entertainment than on facts. Reality is malleable to information and humans have a tendency to turn information into stories & vice-versa. Facts are boring, stories are fun, so why not fictionalize reality?
