My aunt had only 6 students logging on for online class today out of 27 students. This is the most she has had since the start of school. We are losing a generation of Jamaicans right now.
Occurred to me this morning that Pearnel Sr who was incarcerated under 1976 SoE lived to see his two children elected to Parliament, meanwhile Duncan, a key member of Manley’s team during that period has lived to see the Jamaican electorate unequivocally reject his two daughters.
So far, Police hasn’t sealed off SSL’s headquarters and neither have they restricted access to SSL’s computer network.
Neither have they raided homes of all directors, senior employees and former directors to collect documents and computer equipment🥴🥹
I understand why people who support Holness gets piqued by the adoration given to Mia Mottley. It shows up how ordinary Andrew Holness is, yet within the Jamaican space he represents the best of us. We should find this fact worrying.
The fact that this accused wasn’t taken into custody is a big part of our inability to reduce crime. Now a lot of intelligence is lost.
No doubt his demise will be celebrated as swift justice but it isn’t, its a showcase for some inadequacy within our crime fighting setup.

2 other Police personnel were injured during the incident which led to the demise of Hamilton.
Twitter has given me a whole new understanding of Jamaican society and its different layers. The political class isn’t the sole reason for Jamaica’s anaemic progress since independence. No state can progress when ignorance is a hallmark of each group within our society.
PM Seaga said this:
“Irregardless of what governments think, the people of Jamaica have their own views. And irrespective of the government in power, the people of Jamaica had these views through the last regime in power and through the present, and they have not changed[]”1/2
Regrettably, consultations were underway w/ Kingston which did not conclude in time for the close of vote. 🇯🇲 welcomes the action taken by the UNGA, and hopes that it contributes to progress. JA chairs the CARICOM caucus at the UN and earlier delivered the statement attached.
I find it shocking that representatives of the Government of Jamaica are engaged in a public spat with Jamaican students in Ukraine, when those who remain there are in mortal danger.
Tell us what you are now doing to identify their locations and the effort to get them out.
Jamaica is a strange place, imagine people will borrow large sums to go into an imaginary ark to escape pandemic but wont go to vaccine sites for the freely distributed covid vaccine which reduces their risk of severe ill health, if they become infected.
What France has accomplished today is the most obvious example of a first world State benefiting from the ‘talent and brain drain’ from developing countries. I despair with the sinking knowledge that our countries will never succeed.

That one bitter bad Nesta. Can't hack it here in Jamaica, yet not accepted as equal where they choose to live, so they have to bitch about everything. It must be an exhausting experience...
We do ourselves a disservice when we render these flawed juxtapositions. Fact that USA is going thru a crisis doesn’t render Jamaica as a preferable place to live, raise a family and do business.
Fact is that we are so crime ridden that many people live under a state of siege.
Jamaica. We're doing well. Lots to improve but we're doing well. The fallacy we believe is the grass is greener on the other side. Truth is, despite our problems and hardships, the grass is green right here. Water it. Let's all work to build Jamaica

Anyone interested in Jamaica’s development must reject re-emergence of Paulwell. Fact that Phillips is giving Paulwell a platform of prominence + leadership should signal to Jamaicans that Phillips should be rejected too. In building a new Jamaica, some pple must be left behind.

They hide behind their burner accounts and launch vitriolic attacks against individuals for no other reason than that they express views contrary theirs.
Latoya Nugent gave Jamaica

When I came back to Jamaica, I saw a job that was my absolute dream job! They wanted A, B, and C, with D, and E also being "desirable". I had all of them. And direct experience with all! It was an entry level position and I thanked God it opened up when I came. So, I applied.

Mr. Wright is to also apply to take leave of absence from the House of Representatives.
Most aren’t arguing against opening of borders to tourist, instead most are contesting the lax entry provisions which are in start contrast to the hell that Jamaicans locked outside borders had to go through before being allowed in. Don’t bother wid the red herring arguments!
Over 350,000 jobs are linked to Tourism in Jamaica (a quarter of our labour force), much of our foreign exchange comes from it plus billions in tax revenues & earnings. We are carefully opening up to stave off a massive economic collapse/possible social unrest.
In honour of the sensitivity of Shower Rangers in this period of heightened scrutiny, I’ll be tweeting every morning until Election Day the following:
“PM Holness was reckless and driven solely by political opportunism in calling the general election in a surge of covid+ cases.”
Conviction squashed:
1. Direction to jury was inadequate in relation to the bribed jury;
2. Trial continued with corrupt juror, fatal to safety of conviction;
3. Judge should have considered whether one or more of the jurors became prejudiced to the accused.

PNP and Phillips are raising valid concerns and questions on corruption by the Holness Admin. However, public at large are disinterested in listening to them on this issue.
In 2023, our post independence leaders, who have benefit of fast communication explained their failure to vote on critical UNGA res relating to peace+humanitarian access:
“Regrettably, consultations were underway w/ Kingston which did not conclude in time for the close of vote”
Politicians are in a pickle largely of their own making. Jamaicans see politicians largely as corrupt and underperforming, as such legitimate efforts to improve their compensation is taken as another way to rob resources from the country.
It’s sad, that this is our reality.
Relieved that she has been found. Hopefully decency and survivor centered policies will guide media in their coverage of case going forward.

If nothing else Jamaican Twitter has been a debut stage for undressing the assumptions that some have of the group of Jamaicans who are economically able. They appear to be contemptuous of the masses without whom they couldn’t acquire wealth to sustain their generations.
