Not everyone breaks the rules. Favouritism in business deals doesn’t lead to success—it leads to unfairness. By awarding contracts through transparent processes, we ensure that the public’s interest is better served. Let’s ensure that practicing fair decision-making, prioritizing merit over personal connections, and making sure opportunities are earned, become our guiding standards. #IntegrityMatters

Corruption includes the manipulation of systems and people, as well as the pulling of strings for personal gain. Here are some signs of corruption that a person or official may display: -Demand for money or favours in exchange for services. -Abuse of public office to advance one’s personal, party or political agenda -Misuse or misappropriation of public funds -Favoritism in the allocation of public jobs or the award of government contracts. -Private sector officials bribing public sector officials to secure special treatment. The first step to fighting corruption is staying informed, being vigilant, and being wary of those who seek to obfuscate. Let’s stand for transparency, accountability and integrity to break free from the grips of corruption. #EndCorruption

Jamaica’s 2023 CPI Score of 44/100, according to Transparency International (TI), means that the country has a serious corruption problem. The gravity of this cannot be diluted. Jamaicans should also be aware that TI, in its 2023 CPI Report, made the following 2 striking observations about Jamaica: (1) “Collusion among the powerful, as well as the overwhelming dominance of the Executive over the Legislature, weakens the Parliament's oversight capacities, creating conditions ripe for abuse and corruption.” (2) “Additionally, the Executive’s failure to close gaps in the governance framework weakens the pursuit of corruption cases involving organized crime, and fosters impunity of high-level corrupt elites.” #EndCorruption

Jamaica’s poor 2023 score of 44/100 on the Corruption Perception Index (CPI) remains a major cause for concern. While our score has improved since 2017 because of the enactment of the 2017 Integrity Commission Act, it still falls below the critical threshold of 50/100. This is a troubling sign that corruption remains a serious and significant problem for our country. As we await the 2024 CPI Report, the call for greater transparency, accountability and stronger anti-corruption laws is therefore more urgent than ever. Ignore those who would lead you to believe otherwise, and let’s unite for a brighter, fairer, just and prosperous future. #PutJamaicaFirst

Jamaica’s current Corruption Perception Index (CPI) Score, its best ever, came in 2017 - the same year that the long awaited Integrity Commission Act (ICA) was passed. The Score then jumped from 41/100 to 44/100. However, the ICA is currently being challenged in Court. According to Transparency International, a CPI Score of under 50/100 signals, signals prevalent bribery, lack of punishment for corruption and public institutions that do not respond to citizens’ needs.

Corruption destroys the economy. It breaks down trust and stifles growth. The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), produced by Transparency International, sheds light on global corruption levels, ranking 180 countries based on transparency and accountability in the public sector. As we await the release of the 2024 CPI Report, let us remember that corruption is everyone’s problem. Let’s fight for an economy that’s built on integrity and accountability. #StopCorruption
