Here to stand up for the gulls st the meeting. This is a waste management issue not the fault of birds whose habitat we've decimated.
90% of herring gull population gone, 29%-33% reduction in breeding pairs. Stop blaming nature for our bad behaviour.
The far right had a pathetic showing in
#Drogheda
and
#Dundalk
this weekend.
Communities want nothing to do with the bile they're spewing. We solve our communal problems by coming together with all people who call the area home.
Racism and bigotry have nothing to offer.
Louth is?
Antifascist!
The people of
#Louth
are out again in Dundalk.
We will not give up our streets to hateful bigots who just want to turn neighbour on neighbour.
The far right have nothing to offer our communities.
#RefugeesWelcome
Racists not.
Well done to everyone in Dundalk who came out to stand up against hate and division. Proud to stand with you, Louth says no to racism.
When refugee rights are under attack, stand up and fight back!
#IrelandForAll
Due to party that supposedly wants to 'defend' the Irish, a friend of mine has had to warn his mother to be careful at work because a nearby building may be targeted for arson due to emergency accommodation.
Remember, these far right 'patriots' don't give a shit about you.
While I'm disappointed to not make it, I'm really glad I stepped forward and ran.
On the bright side, time to celebrate passing my degree! Absolutely delighted, going back as a mature student was hard but a thoroughly rewarding experience!
As a student myself the price decrease for public transport have been monumental. My weekly return went from 75 euro to 37.50. Coming from a low income household that money really helps.
Last week, we tried to show what can a small party get done in government.
We’re fighting hard to make the
#GreenEffect
bigger, bolder, and more significant for climate and communities in Ireland. Here's a recap of some of what we've achieved, and stay tuned for much, much more.
It can be a daunting thing to run for an election, but I'm incredibly proud to stand for the Green Party in
#Drogheda
Urban for
#LE24
.
If you would like to donate to the campaign or get involved, please follow the link below, thank you so much.
Very busy day today!
Supporting the people of Palestine in Drogheda with those who weren't able to make it to Dublin.
Straight out on the
#BigGreenCanvass
right after ahead of the local elections in June.
I'm so proud to be a part of such an active community in

We're back!
Great reactions from the students in Galway as our
@younggreens
branch reopened in the university.
Young people want our voices to be heard, we want a future!

Was proud to stand with friends today against racism and bigotry alongside

On March 2nd there will be a march in solidarity with those being targeted in our communities, please come and take your chance to

With the news about the D hotel in Drogheda yesterday I wanted to wait a day to really process the news and be able to provide a constructive statement rather than just a knee jerk response.
@EmmaQuinlan
@TPSpencer88
Few ideas were floated, there's a committee being set up, some talk on signs and fines against deliberate feeding.
My main point is that we're leaving so much food waste available that they're drawn to it.
Someone floated the idea of disturbing nests/eggs I'm very much against
Delighted that the people of
#Drogheda
wanted nothing to do with the hateful crowd who descended on the town.
We're not buying what you're selling lads, now go on back to your own towns and keep us out of your bile in the future.
#RefugeesWelcome
#IrelandForAll
The message was clear yesterday at the
@greenparty_ie
conference.
The Green Party stands in solidarity with refugees, asylum seekers and those building their lives here.
We remain a party of inclusion and community, we won't play the game of hateful rhetoric
#IrelandForAll
Out canvassing all day today for my 30th!
Looking forward to celebrating over the weekend, hoping to be celebrating the results too. Please vote Kennedy no. 1.
Whatever happens, it's been such an honour to run for Drogheda Urban and to hear from so many.
#KeepGoingGreen
#LE24
Just did my first ever radio appearance! Incredibly nervous but I'm glad I did it.
Thank you
@LMFMRADIO
and Michael Reade for having me on!
Now it's right back out on the doors to canvass a few hours, those No. 1's don't get themselves!
#KeepGoingGreen
It's official!
If you're living in Drogheda Urban I'll be on your ballot Jun 7th.
Drogheda is an incredible place, I'm proud to have grown up here and having the chance to run to represent the community is such an honour. I'll see you all on the doors!
#KeepGoingGreen
A massive thank you to my fellow
@younggreens
for electing me as our membership officer at the AGM over the weekend, looking forward to a great year.
Well done to our outgoing committee for the fantastic work they've done all year.
Want to get involved?
You're dead right to call this out, whatever any of us may think of FG or Helen McEntee re policy, for the love of Christ can we stop making comments on women in politics based on how they look or dress?
Solidarity with the women in all fields who have to deal with this crap.
@Editorialz
That photo is 11yrs old, her outfit is of that time. She looks terrific
Photo taken less than 3 months after her fathers death. A tragic time in that family’s lives, leave her alone
Hate won't build homes, bigotry won't help communities, harassing refugees won't feed the hungry.
People from all over Louth continue to come together, to stand with their neighbours, against the poison of far right hatred and division.
No Pasarán.
#IrelandForAll
Think about filling a car and coming along. It's a safety in numbers game facing down the mob of fascists, crims and low-lives showing up at the Irish Freedom Party hate rallies in Dundalk.
[Please share for visibility]
And we're done!
I want to thank everyone who's been so supportive over this campaign, I had no idea just how hard going it can be but it's been such an honour and a humbling experience.
Whatever happens I've been so happy to have this experience
#LE24
Just home now but it was an incredible time in Leitrim for the Young Greens Summer Camp.
So many great ideas and wonderful people from our Green friends abroad.
I always love seeing so many engaged and enthusiastic new faces within the movement to fight climate change.
Was a great canvass yesterday! Many thanks to the other
@younggreens
who came up to help me out, including
@Feljin_J
!
Was recognised at the bus stop this morning too and told I'll be getting No.1.
Not long now until
#LE24
, we'll all keep putting in the work.

Goal: Sabotage of the Green Deal together with far-right.
Background: revenge of Manfred Weber on Ursula von der Leyen.
Losers of these power games: Our nature, our farmers, us!
Five euro, this whole rigmarole for €5. And then to publish the person's name and address? What a joke.
It's long past the time we legalise and regulate.
If you are interested in reform, join our talk later.

It's strange how quiet it is on O'Connell St this morning, the only real sound is the gulls and one or two loading trucks for debris, but I don't want to focus on that in this thread, because along with the horrors of yesterday we also saw great acts of community...
Here in Drogheda library to show support for the library workers.
Disgusted by those who thought it was okay to come in and try to stir trouble when everyone here is doing their best to make this a welcoming place.
Tyre deflation is not the same as slashing, there is no property damage.
It's tedious, but global climate collapse is far worse, this is about survival.
Climate activists have been screaming at the top of their lungs for decades, if we won't listen they'll try other tactics.
I’ve had calls from constituents who last night had their tyres slashed in Churchtown by a supposed climate action group.
It’s now with the local Gardaí.
This thuggery is unacceptable, I’m hopeful the investigation can put a stop to this carry on but be vigilant.
Thank you to everyone in
#Drogheda
Stands With Palestine for inviting me to speak today, its so important for all of us with a platform, no matter how small, to use every chance we have to speak for those who have had that voice stolen from them.
#CeasefireNOW
#FreePalestine
Today the people of
#Drogheda
came together to remember those who have been murdered in Palestine, especially the 12,000 innocent CHILDREN!!
We are calling on the Irish Government to take action immediately. Use our voice. Stand on the side of justice!

Somewhere in my life I went from hanging out with my friends until all hours to spending 4 hours writing Local Area Plan submissions.
I mean, it's interesting but not where 18 Yr old me would have seen myself in 10 years!
Fantastic news for Drogheda!
Train return to Dublin going down from €19.50 to €14.00. Weekly from €61.20 to €56.00
Well done to everyone in the town who has campaigned on this for years!
Want a better public transport network? Then you want
#GreensInGovernment
On the bus to Dublin now.
It's important we all stand shoulder to shoulder with the trans members of our communities as they face increasing hostility.
When trans rights come under attack
#StandUpFightBack
Ran down to the town centre after a friend said they were feeling threatened by a lad recording them.
Lad and the woman with him kept recording her and their small child, so if you see a video floating around of me giving out to someone recording a child, well, now you know.
On the bus to Dublin to add my voice to the many others calling for a

The collective punishment and bombing of the people of Palestine by Israel is repugnant, but will likely continue unless Israel faces international pressure and sanctions.
It was great to run into
@Berlinnaeus
and others from more parties here too.
This is not a partisan issue, this is about human rights, I'm proud to see so many parties march in solidarity for our communities.
It was wonderful to talk with so many others who keep showing up to the
#Drogheda
Stands With Palestine demos.
Louth County Council has adopted the BDS motions and Ireland will join the South Africa case against the ongoing violence by Israel.
Hazel is an incredible representative and a genuine inspiration. I've no doubt she'll continue to go above and beyond for the community. It's telling that when faced with integrity like hers the far right get rattled.
Solidarity Hazel
1/2 Big thanks for all the lovely messages. But this is not a new occurrence for me or most political reps. In the last few months I've had ethno nationalists:
-Posting videos online about how I'm a c%*t.
-Calls to come protest our house.
-Shout at my family (my husband & child)
First donation of the year done!
Thanks very much

If you're looking to make a change in 2024, consider donating blood. Only around 3% of eligible donors even attend a screening.
A little time can save a life.

Make your voice heard on June 7th.
Total raised tonight for the Palestinisn Red Crescent €4450.87, look what communities can do when they come together!
Thank you
#Drogheda
! Thank you so much, words can't express the pride I have in this town!
Harassment of library staff, burning of sites intended for housing those in need, abusing the LGBTQI+ community, assaulting counterprotesters.
There is no fencesitting on this, complacency is complicity. Which side are you on?
Footage of Alan Sweeney assaulting someone in Carrick-on-Shannon yesterday.
Sweeney is a hateful, unhinged, dangerous person, with a temper he clearly cannot control.
People need to see these scum for what they are and run them off the streets!! They're a danger to everyone.
Drogheda said No to the Far Right today. With a population of 40,956, Drogheda boycotted the anti-immigrant protest at Scotch Hall. No more than 300 people attended, and by my reckoning, at least half of them were not from the town. It was an abysmal failure for the far right,
To the crowd handing out Anti-LGBTQ+ crap, Drogheda has no time for what you're pushing.
Happy Pride month and solidarity with everyone from Drogheda Pride.
When you see it, call it out.
It feels surreal seeing a photo of myself in an article!
Glad I went and to be mentioned, just not used to it!
Big thank you again to
@BirdWatchIE
for the really useful info ahead of the meeting.
Hoping the gulls are registered to vote in
#LE24
There are some trying to spread fear about it, I ask you where are they in the community?
As a volunteer myself I never see these faces giving their time and energy to youth clubs, food for the homeless, assistance for those in need, action on dereliction to bring in more homes.
Solidarity with

counterprotesting against the transphobes outside Leinster House.
The abuse of the trans community in Ireland is disgusting and I'm proud to see USI stand against hate.
Trans rights are human rights!
Neasa has been a wonderful, principled representative for her area and a great support within the party.
I'm proud to have given her my nomination for Deputy Leader and would encourage everyone who is still undecided to send their nominations in before close of business today.
It's not about protecting Irish people or assisting the homeless, it's about building a cover story while they go out and target those in our communities most in need.
Make no mistake, it doesn't end with refugees and asylum seekers, we saw them target the LGBTQIA+ community too
Had the pleasure of sitting in on a panel discussion Ash was at before. She raised some fantastic points about how we can use urban planning to create more inclusive spaces for all.
An incredible candidate for the NI elections!
Was out earlier today donating blood along with
@Costellop
and
@carolynmoore_ie
Blood donation day is the 14th of June so if you have the time book an appointment. Your donation could make a world of difference for someone in need.
Solidarity with our friends in Dundalk, we can put rivalry aside for this.
Louth won't tolerate the far right targeting people or trying to use hate to divide our communities.
See you Sunday, no pasáran.

"We need more MEPs with backbone to fight for the planet"
Today I have announced that I am running for selection in Midlands North West for the Green Party. The future for Europe is a green future and our region needs a strong MEP at the table
When a hate mob burns down a building intended to house refugees they show you their real intent. Now it can't house anyone.
It was never about 'housing the Irish' it's about hating other people, refugees, LGBTQI+, they don't care.
They've no solutions, they just want targets.
I'd find O'Leary's childish personal attacks and throwing the toys out of the pram sad if the backdrop wasn't so alarming.
No, we can't throw the good of our communities, our environment and the planet itself into the fire so he can further enrich himself.
A new study has found that the flooding in Midleton and other parts of east Cork in October was over twice as likely to happen at current global temperatures compared to pre-industrial times, due to climate change
What I have seen however, is people in the town come together to support those in need.
Mentor groups for arrivals, renter rights groups coming together against exploitation by a predatory rental market, everyday people raising €4500 in medical aid for Gaza, look at that crowd
Keep up the pressure!
Week on week folks living in the towns, local activists, musicians, community volunteers and more all show up to show that Louth is full of welcoming communities and we will not allow the scapegoating of refugees.
Stand together, no pasarán

To the motorist who decided to run a red light and nearly knock me off my bike I hope the extra 30 odd seconds really made a difference.
High vis, reflector on helmet, lights, the whole nine yards.
We can't get separate cycle lanes in
#Drogheda
fast enough.
@droghedacycling
A very important and often overlooked issue within Irish society is the treatment of prisoners and their access to mental health care.
How can we expect people rehabilitate and reintegrate to society if they don't have access to the supports they need?
@IPRT
@DeptJusticeIRL
Great to see
@Drogheda4All
out raising awareness around dereliction in Drogheda. We shouldn't accept the town centre being left to rot.
We need to revitalise West Street and a great way to start is giving it back to community groups and social projects.
Firstly, I'm profoundly disappointed at those local representatives who seized this announcement as a chance to stir up alarm for the sake of their own profile, I hope trying to create a controversy for a few votes was worth the cost of your human compassion.
Like many last night I was stranded in the city with no bus home, a friend of mine in Trinity let me crash at his place.
When I got on campus the
@tcddublin
students were already out in force, some were making food for everyone there, others getting people tea/coffee/water...

@Admdvn
for the picture, happy St. Patrick's Day everyone, have a fun and safe evening!
Home from a really great canvass, had a first time canvasser out with me too so I'm glad it was a positive experience.

So we've had arson, riots, a man beaten to death and now Cllrs and their partners being attacked while postering.

Love all the tweets suggesting we were paid to march, I wish I was I have bills to pay, meanwhile transphobes were flying in to harass our siblings.
#TransRightsAreHumanRights
Some just made sure to give their time going around and checking I with everyone to make sure they were okay, even students they didn't know personally.
A call went out for anyone who needed somewhere safe to go to make their way to Trinity where they had prepared a space...
And after they've gotten what they're looking for, they'll find a new target.
If you want to stand for freedom, then stand for the freedom of all, not those who will be more than happy to take yours too.

Saw some disgusting comments about the books available in the library in
#Drogheda
.
These comments aren't representative of the town and I'd like to thank
@LouthLibraries
for being such open, kind and inclusive spaces.
Our local communities must say no to hate.
Finishing touches being done for the Gig for Gaza with
@Drogheda4All

Free tonight? Come on down for a great night of music in solidarity with Palestine. Money going to the Palestinian Red Crescent.
#FreePalestine
It wasn't just students though, on the way to Trinity I could see crowds of strangers just on a night out checking in with one another to check in. Asking people who were walking alone last night if they'd feel more comfortable travelling with them...
A big turnout on a cold evening here in Drogheda calling for an end to the violence and the full reopening of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Please, if you can, attend the march in Dublin tomorrow at 13:00 starting from the spire, we all need to stand together to call for ceasefire.
A big thank you to every single person who took the time to come to tonight's vigil in memory of the innocent civilians brutally killed in
#Palestine
since Oct 7th.
#Drogheda
condemns the continued massacre of innocent people. We are calling for an immediate ceasefire 🇵🇸
Happy to have cast my vote for
@neasa_neasa
for Deputy Leader.
A strong voice who has conducted herself with dignity and held to her convictions. I have a lot of faith in her vision for the future of the party.
If you've not voted yet, please do, voting closes at 17:00.
Well done to the people of Limerick for coming together to resist this absolute shower.
Same faces who tried to cause trouble here in Drogheda. There's not that many of them. It's great to see communities across the country organising to show them hate and division isn't welcome
This is one of the best ways we can fight against the kind of hate far right agitators want to stir up.
Organise in your community and support each other, the kind of solidarity that builds is hard to break and it's so important for everyone to have a support network...
Delighted to see investment in the Battle of the Boyne site.
It's such an important part of our history and investment in the area should reflect that.
