It’s quite fascinating that no Pakistani product can be written about by popular news outlets without somehow shoving India into the title as well.

Lesser Known Fact: In the hills of #Pakistan ’s salt range sleeps one of the grandest ancient cities of South Asia. A 3 mile long metropolis surrounded by stupas and dragon lakes, which was mentioned only once 1300 years ago by a traveller. Thread on the Lost City of the Lion.

The replies to this tweet prove what I’ve been saying all along. They taunt us by saying we claim to be Turks and Arabs bc they want us to claim to be them. The moment a Pakistani claims his own culture they go into meltdown declaring us foreigners to our own ethnicities.

And I grew up in Militancy era Peshawar when Pakistan for me was synonymous to seeing severed human limbs adorning the road every other day. I’m not a privileged individual like you tweeting from New Jersey. I’ve seen Pakistan turn into hell and still learnt to love it.

😂 I was raised in Zia’s Pakistan. We did all this on steroids all our lives. It’s the unlearning that is a hard, and also painful, I understand, part of growth and unlearning. It does leave you bereft as a Pakistani, no denying that. Your narrative is more comforting.
