Trump's readout of his call with Ukraine's Zelensky, which is much shorter than the one about his call with Putin before this. Trump says, "We discussed a variety of topics having to do with the War, but mostly, the meeting that is being set up on Friday in Munich, where Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead the Delegation. I am hopeful that the results of that meeting will be positive."

➡️ Notably, @generalkellogg is off this list & appears to be replaced by Steve Witkoff. IMO, not good. Kellogg was taking a hard stand against Putin. Trump, it seems, is falling for Putin’s flattery. ^ Time will tell if he does. ↖️

Caleb, I’d respectfully argue to try looking at it in a different way. Journalism, in my own experience, isn’t just about reporting XYZ, it is also about starting conversations. K-Dot did just that. Doing so during a Super Bowl halftime show was a heavy lift. Not just in terms of viewer distractions (e.g., the game itself, grabbing food, people conversing, etc.) but the diverse makeup of his audience. E.g., most people in my age bracket wouldn’t know Kendrick Lamar is. Admittedly, I only do because my youngest son admires his artistry & especially his Pulitzer-winning lyrical style. For most, seeing K-Dot’s performance was like walking into the Sistine Chapel. They see Michelangelo’s masterpiece but do not understand all of the layers of its messaging. Plus, even those who tried to get a deeper understanding of what they saw might have gotten lost in the myriad of layers incorporated into his performance. E.g., if they turned to tabloids, they might have just viewed it as a celebrity spat between Kendrick & Drake and missed the other deeper layers K-Dot was conveying. I have family ties to SOCAL so it was easier for me to see the Compton references be it the dancers representing archenemies the Crips & the Bloods, Serena Williams crip walking, the stage representing a jail, etc. As journalists, it’s important for us to remember not everyone speaks the same language or has the same shared experiences.
