I recently had the privilege of attending my 40-year high school reunion (Memorial High School Class of 1984) last weekend, and it was a powerful reminder of how far we’ve come. Reconnecting with old classmates and reflecting on our journeys was both humbling and inspiring.
Dallas Police need to have their base pay raised. They need their pension system repaired. They need our respect and support. Then we'll be able to hire the 4,000 that we need (instead of 3,000). Then Dallas will flourish again.
I keep hearing this foolishness that Dallas can’t recruit the police officers it needs/wants. RAISE THEIR PAY. You will get all the cops you’ll ever need. Why is that so hard to understand?.

Dallas citizens consistently indicate in polls conducted by
@DallasExpress
that they care most about basic city services like crime reduction, addressing the homelessness problem, street repair, well maintained parks, etc. Yet the city refuses to concentrate on these areas. Why?
In my experience in Dallas and based upon some research:
75% of the folks on the streets have homes, they’re just professional panhandlers.
20% simply do not want permanent housing.
5% are people that can and are willing to work to get off the streets
Anyone see it differently?
Here's a doozy: In the State of Texas, no city, town, ISD, etc. is required to produce periodic proper Income/expense statements or cash flow statements or projections. Is the government we get a surprise?
I’ve polled it many times and consistently, in every district, Dallas citizens care most about the following in approximately the following order:
1. Crime reduction
2. Homelessness reduction
3. Street repair
4. Lower Taxes
5. Greater cleanliness.
Homelessness is a pressing issue in our city, with 201 homeless individuals recently counted this month in downtown Dallas alone. This affects our entire community, impacting businesses, resources, and the well-being of our residents.
The real headline from
@CityOfDallas
Budget: “The fact is that any congratulations about a low tax rate in
#Dallas
is fake, as the city has gone to the maximally, legally allowed rate without going to the voters to ask for a greater tax rate." --

Four years of data speaks for itself, Downtown Dallas crime spikes over the weekend. Why would visitors want to visit if they know our downtown is unsafe?
Rumors abound that some city council members are trying to kill the police pension reform plan so it will be harder to recruit cops. Defunding the police without the political cost. Terrible for all, but especially for our brown and black communities that are the primary victims
Just briefly spoke at the DDI mtg downtown Dallas. Afterwards I was scolded by a former mayor who said my comments about downtown being too dangerous were ‘inappropriate.’ What?

@dallasnews
It's a shame. This new Dallas city budget raises taxes dramatically, and yet doesn't come close to solving any of the cities major problems of crime, homelessness, street condition & cleanliness, etc. Where is all the money going?
The City of Dallas is seemingly trying its hardest to put in place the exact same policies that have ruined just about every other large city in America. Why?
Well, very sad. The City of Dallas once again in their new yearly budget jacked up taxes on its residents. When will they realize that this ultimately destroys cities? People and businesses can't afford it and move out. Is that what they want?
Here's another troubling statistic: Downtown Dallas has seen twice the amount of property crime than Downtown Houston over the last few months. Despite showing clear data some seem hesitant to acknowledge crime rates in Dallas remain too high. It's time to prioritize our city.
My preference would be for it to be public schools. But year after year after decade after decade, many public schools have failed to educate our most needy children. Time’s up. You’ve had many chances. The kids are to suffer no more.

Regarding “food deserts” in Dallas. Isn’t the problem obvious? We see all over the country stores closing because of too much crime. No one will open grocery stores because there’s TOO MUCH CRIME in those areas.
Through the process of a fixed property tax rate on ever-rising residential values, the City of Dallas is pushing people out - which will end with Dallas turning into Chicago.
2 out of the 6 most crime-prone spots in Downtown Dallas are convenience stores. To effectively address this issue, we must prioritize attracting, recruiting, and training more police officers. Fixing their pensions and increasing their pay is essential.
Downtown Dallas faces a persistent crime issue, with Pegasus & Ferris Plaza serving as prime examples. In the past 4 years, these 2 parks have reported more incidents than the combined total of 13 other parks, highlighting the ongoing challenge of ensuring safety downtown.
Last week, I delivered the closing remarks at the

According to the

Texas Monthly reached out to me for an article. I told them I'd only respond in email because outlets like TM treat non far lefties poorly. Do you think they'll treat me fairly?

Until our Dallas City government allocates the needed resources to our police department, Dallas will continue to have crime rates per capita worse than NYC, Philly, and Chicago.
Great turnout today at the Dallas Citizens Council annual luncheon. It was mentioned that an average of something like 375 people a day move to the metroplex. What wasn't mentioned is that people are moving out of the City of Dallas.
Thank you Rob Hays for having me on your podcast. I enjoyed our conversation on how I started in the industry, my vision for

So glad you and your daughter have been able to stay safe! For example, car thefts in downtown Dallas are 10 times the level of downtown Ft Worth’s.
Our Dallas City leaders seem to always be focused on things except what the voters care about. Voters consistently say that their priorities are: crime, homelessness/pan handling, street repair, taxes, and cleanliness. Are you listening?!
It’s amazing to me how much news coverage there is on these pro-Hamas protests but how little coverage there is on the individuals and organizations that are organizing and funding it all. Without the latter, the protests wouldn’t even exist! With proper funding, protests can be

Actually I regularly poll Dallas citizens on this topic. In all districts. overwhelmingly they say that crime is way too high and that they're very dissatisfied with what's (not) being done about it. Blacks and Hispanics are way more upset about it than whites, btw.

How is it that if we break the law, we go to jail, but if our own government leads a massive coordinated effort to break the law, they’re exempt? This happens all the time.
I have now called for an immediate

House investigation of federal officials who are harassing whistleblowers and potentially aiding and abetting the child abuse they so bravely exposed.
Government always tells us that giving them more money will solve all their incompetence. But they never say that paying police more will solve the DPD recruiting problem. Why is that?
It’s astonishing how much money we pay and liberties we lose in the name of National security. Then we let millions across the border completely unvetted. Makes me conclude that all the ‘national security’ assertions are lies.
Remember: A vote for Kamala is a vote for Dick Cheney, Hillary Clinton, and the woke warmongering cabal. A vote for Kamala is a vote for war, war, and more war — and with it, more infringement on our liberties in the name of “national security.”
