Taseko Mines Limited has released its Economic Impact Study for Gibraltar Copper Mine. Key findings showing Gibraltar Copper Mine is a cornerstone of BC’s Cariboo Region and local communities include: 🔵 The mine generated total economic output in Canada of $16.3 billion and value-added GDP of $8.3 billion since 2004, with more than half occurring in the Cariboo. 🔵 The mine employs approximately 700 workers directly and supports a total of 2,860 indirect and induced full-time jobs. 🔵 Total government revenues generated by the mine for all levels of government were $2 billion for the period 2005 - 2023. Gibraltar is the second-largest open pit copper mine in Canada, with average annual life-of-mine production of 129 million pounds of copper. The planned imposition of a 25% tariff on Canadian imports into the U.S. starting next Tuesday is disappointing, extremely unproductive and will harm both Canadian 🇨🇦and U.S 🇺🇸economies.    Tariffs will weaken both Canadian and U.S. economies and hurt businesses, workers and families on both sides of the border.
