He can be both. Pull up one of the well-known interviews he did 15-20 years ago. He was just as narcissistic then, but he was speaking in complex sentences, with dependent clauses and a good vocabulary, without losing his train of thought. Contrast that to the present.
@JaneotN
There's more. At the end of the article it says she's still out of student government and the deadline for the scholarship recommendations has passed. The possible ramifications extend far beyond the two hours.
@PrezLives2022
Well done. And note that, when MAGA people find out they're pregnant, they don't say "We have a baby!" Like everyone else, they say, "We're expecting a baby!"
@VABVOX
Please remember that you have tens of thousands of people who are pulling for you. That's powerful energy. Whatever the news is, you have the strength to meet it. Remember to breathe. You can do this. Let us know how it goes. We care.
@OccupyDemocrats
Please don't misdirect people. There isn't going to be an impeachment--it would require a majority vote in the House and 2/3 vote in the Senate. A much more realistic goal is to retake the House, elect at least 2-3 more Dem senators, and expand the Court.
@Conblob
@BookOfEssays
Not even Trump himself. He didn't even want to win, he just wanted to boost his brand. You could see how surprised he was--and how devastated Melania was.
Before you get upset, I would suggest reading my FAQ page, and then reading the Washington Post article carefully.
FAQ page:
If you don't see immediately that the Post piece is spin, read the Mastodon thread I linked to earlier.
@DogginTrump
I won't forget what the media did to cause this. They failed to report on his successes for 3.5 years and focused endlessly on any perceived weakness. Got everyone to panic thinking the whole debate was disastrous, when he actually began to recover after the first 10 minutes.
@LanceUSA70
I heard (sorry, can't remember source) that there may be a kernel of truth, but for a horrible reason: some schools may have decided to store kitty litter *in case there's an active shooter* and kids are locked down for hours or days with no bathroom access. Don't know if true.
@dissentingj
Biden had a really bad *10 minutes* at the debate. He's had many hours of speeches, rallies, meetings, etc., after that in which he was observably fine. Go figure.
@JB5026944332674
@thejackhopkins
They are doing their jobs (well, all except Cannon). They're being very careful to make the cases as appeal-proof as possible. It would be horrible if TFG got off on a technicality.
@adgirlMM
It's not ego with Joe. Narcissism is saying, "only I can do it." Healthy self-confidence is saying, "I believe I'm the best one to do it in this moment." Huge difference.
@ElieNYC
Exactly. In some religions, personhood begins at birth, not conception. Even in the Bible, Adam didn't become a "living soul" until he received the "breath of life" (Genesis 2:7).
Sotomayor asks how anti-abortion argument is ‘anything but a religious view’
@lisamurkowski
Whatever your accomplishments have been or will be, when the history of this time is written, the one thing that will be remembered is your failure in this moment. This impeachment is "partisan" only because Republicans are shirking their duty and violating their oaths of office.
@McFaul
@cindyinchaos
And that's the problem. Too many of today's Republicans believe in hierarchy, not democracy. The sooner we understand that, the sooner we can stop expecting them to come to their senses and do the right thing.
The GOP believes it is
🔹tyranny when a government takes steps to save lives, and
🔹good government when the wealthy get tax breaks.
That's because the GOP is the party of hierarchy.
They don't believe fairness and equality are possible.

I wasn't thrilled with Biden when I voted for him in 2020--but that's not what an election is about. And Biden has far exceeded expectations, especially with a divided and polarized Congress. Look up a list of his accomplishments.

Good description. Another way of saying this is that neither far end believes in compromise. When you live in a pluralistic society, you have to find ways to accommodate each other--e.g., not banning books, but allowing parents to opt their kids out of specific assignments.
We should care. This should be headlines. Everything else should stop.
But it won't stop the constant cries of: "There has been NO accountability and he NEVER faces consequences."
The reason: Unrealistic expectations about what "consequences" can accomplish . . .

It probably didn't help that the J6C refused to turn over their transcripts sooner. But yes, a lot of people seem to have forgotten that every investigation of this size is going to take years. We don't want to risk TFG being acquitted because of a careless hole in the evidence.

Yes. When the election results didn't match the polls, why did everyone insist that the *polls* were wrong? Pundits spent countless hours trying to explain how the Dem message failed, etc., and never seemed to consider that there was another possible explanation.
@gregpinelo
@pixburghgrrl
Best advice I've heard lately: ignore the polls and make a plan to vote. If the polls are up, people tend to get complacent; if they're down, people get anxious and apathetic. Just vote. And take a friend with you if you can.

I'm actually taking a more hopeful view. One resignation would have made no difference. But once they figured out there were at least 3-4 of them, they may have realized they could make way for a huge change: a 9-month Dem trifecta, and whatever they can pass in that time.

They were neatly laid out by the House GOP in Mueller Judiciary Committee hearing.

You've now been through a couple of cycles of holidays, birthdays, etc., without family. Really try to imagine it. Do you feel lonely, ungrounded, isolated? Or do you feel peaceful, relieved, free? Your future self may be able to tell you which way to go.

Unfortunately, judicial appointments can't simply be reversed. The process for impeaching a federal judge is the same as for a president: majority vote in the House to impeach, 2/3 vote in the Senate to remove. We would need 67 Dem senators.

Pls use self-care! Any breathing exercise will help, but my favorite is to breathe in for 4 sec, hold for 3 sec, breathe out for 7 sec. Easy to remember because 4+3=7. The long, controlled exhale is even more important than the inhale at resetting the fight/flight panic response.

Here in Georgia, we've known that from the beginning. What ethical person refuses to recuse himself from overseeing *his own election*? Plus he & cronies are helping themselves stay in power by choosing hackable touchscreen voting machines at 3x the cost of optical scanners.
What have we done?
With the American Rescue Plan, the Infrastructure bill, and the climate/drug bill, in 2 years Dems have invested 2 1/2 to 3 times as much as the ENTIRE New Deal AND Interstate Highway System COMBINED.
