Jokes aside, the next few months are the greatest test of the athlete. Anyone can pull on their trainers on a blue sky day. But you've got to think blue sky, when it's not. No excuses. Get out there! Get that run in.

On the farm this weekend....Barry's Breakfast tea constantly flowing....endlessly. Black and white pudding for breakfast....chops for lunch and beef for dinner/tea and sandwiches. Might need a Wayne Lineker 7 day water only fast after this. These health gurus eh!

One of those runs that felt tough despite trying to take it easy. Definitely a run where you question if good is being done. These runs happen. Hopefully not too often!

It's been a few weeks in the doldrums here. Tiredness, sickness, work, life stuff. Consistency totally up and down. It's not ideal, but getting out there for something. Something is better than nothing, even when things aren't ideal.

Lydiard said that good and bad training looks the same. Everything has to have context and fit for the individual. 20 miles at 6.00 min pace can build....for others it's a destroyer.

There are systems that just destroy athletes. Clubs, coaches, training groups...philosophies. We often see the successes, but there can often be many failures. Some athletes that could have been better, if the management had been there.

@HuToll I think systems in their purest forms are not always suitable and rarely so. Whatever training is undertaken it has to be with the individual in mind. I don't think this is adhered to much. There's not a magic code...There's your code....
