Today was soooo amazing. Did my first community feed. Felt great to be out with the residents of Broward. Definitely saw some improvements/changes that can be made to make this success even greater next time. All in all, I am happy and I am grateful for this day and opportunity.

She had mental illness. Hasn’t been compliant with her meds. She’s had multiple attempts, most recently this year (per husband report, stated in article)
Graduation could be a trigger or it could have been her first opportunity to be away from her family long enough to commit.

I agree. I was trying not to blame the husband, in particular, but given the details it’s hard not to. Her wanting a seat higher up and separate from her family should’ve been a big red flag. Her last attempt was too recent. A safety plan should’ve been in place and followed.

There’s more to life than retribution.
They weren’t having an argument and he decided to do this in the heat of the moment. He pursued her with the intent to hurt her … regardless of whatever foul things may have happened prior, running down on her is not justified.

At one point working for the city was a big deal as it offered way more benefits than the other jobs offered to POC. City jobs were first only awarded to yt’s. There is also the possibility to receive a pension without education, which was not a common thing back then.

Speaking of creating something tho, I do have a nonprofit in Florida that focuses on providing help before anyone realizes there’s a “problem.” Resources available for children ages 5-18 … don’t beat me up but I focus on the Black and POC community.
