I’m incredibly proud to have been appointed to the
#LibDems
frontbench team as Spokesperson for London.
I will champion Londoners’ priorities and hold the government and Mayor of London to account.
As we fight to fix our broken health and social care system, we can transform the lives of people affected by MS.
At the recent
#LibDems
conference I sat down with
@MSSocietyUK
to talk about ways we can better support the 3,331 people living with MS in
#Sutton
&
#Cheam
New research by the
#LibDems
shows that one in four people have avoided calling an ambulance - fearing it would take too long to arrive.
The Conservatives have left us in such a dire state.
That's why we're calling for the upcoming budget to be an emergency health budget.
This is very good indeed. The previous UK position went against rulings at international courts, which in turn opened us up to charges of hypocrisy when we spoke about upholding the international rule of law. Well done
@FCDOGovUK
and all involved
If the Conservative leadership hopefuls want to get serious about moving on from the past & fixing the damage they’ve done, there's an easy first step. I'll even spell it out for them.
Strip Liz Truss of her up to £115,000 yearly ex-PM's allowance.
Very pleased that
@Asda
is supporting primary schools in
#Sutton
&
#Cheam
and across the nation with their new Cashpot for Schools initiative - already raising over £1,500 for schools in our area!
The scheme runs until 30th November - find out more at
The Conservatives were totally unfit to govern and are equally unfit for opposition.
They are fighting like rats in a sack, whilst the
#LibDems
get on with the work of constructive opposition ; holding the govt to account and putting forward an ambitious vision for our country.
The last Conservative government’s incompetence and neglect has driven the NHS to breaking point.
The situation is now so bad that patients are worried that when they call 999 or their local GP, they won’t receive the care they so desperately need.
As Rosh Hashanah begins, I want to send my best wishes to Jewish people across the UK.
This year, celebrations will inevitably be affected by the memory of the 7 October attacks, the continued hostage crisis and the recent escalation of violence in the Middle East.
Today I'm at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.
I'm here to represent the Tamil community in their pursuit of justice for the atrocities committed over many decades in Sri Lanka.
With the world on edge, there will be many other important discussions here today too.
Liberal Democrats totally condemn Iran’s attacks on Israel. My thoughts are with all innocent civilians - in Israel and across the whole region - who are sheltering tonight.
The UK Government must do all it can to help bring the region back from the brink of all out war.
Sutton and Cheam's new Lib Dem MP, Luke Taylor
@LukeTaylorLD
has joined the Radio Jackie MP monthlies. In his first interview with us, he talks to Jacqui Kerr about the issues affecting constituents at the moment. You can listen here ⬇️
This month is home to Restart a Heart Day; encouraging everybody to learn the signs of a cardiac arrest & how to confidently perform CPR & use a defibrillator.
With the support of
@suttonunited
, we are able to bring even more training to you this month:
Really thoroughly enjoyed having the chance to check in with
@jackie_news
about my priorities for
#Sutton
&
#Cheam
- and how I intend to hold the Govt and Mayor of London to account as the
#LibDems
London Spokesperson.
Today marks the start of
#BlackHistoryMonth
In Sutton & Cheam, in London, and across our country - the stories and experiences of black people form an integral part of our story.
And yet too many still live with discrimination.
I will always stand up against racism.
“Climate change, pandemics, antimicrobial resistance, and how we feed 8 billion people... these are daunting challenges, but we must face them because they are existential threats to our civilisation”
@DannyVet
has given his maiden speech.
Can you spot what's wrong with this map of TfL's first wave of proposed EV charging hubs?
... that's right, they're all north of the river!
Great to see TfL take further steps to expand EV charging infrastructure - but would encourage them to expand south quickly.
I have written to For Sec
@DavidLammy
about the deepening conflict in the Middle East.
We must pursue the conditions for peace despite the bleak outlook. I'll continue to urge the Government to adopt the proposals made by Liberal Democrats at our conference earlier this month.
