I am absolutely crestfallen seeing the scenes in
#Knowsley
this evening, at the Suites Hotel. This is not representative of the Knowsley I know and love. I whole heartedly oppose the violence and rhetoric on display here. We are better than this.
Congratulations to
@Ashley__Dalton
on being selected as the candidate, for the
@westlancs
by-election. I am humbled to have been shortlisted, with two formidable Labour women like you and
@EmmaFoxUK

Thrilled to share that I have submitted my application to become the Labour candidate in my home seat of Knowsley! Committed, local, and eager to give back to the community that shaped me. To find out more or join me on this journey visit

I am thrilled to announce, I am now on the shortlist for

I will be making every effort to speak to and meet with, as many members as possible over the next few days.
@Depheruk
@AndrewJMullen
I don’t care who paid for it. No child should be denied such a simple pleasure. Well done Depher, for supporting this family and giving a little boy a reason to smile.
Online ballots have opened today in Knowsley and though this process is far from over, I just wanted to say a huge thank you to members who have so willingly engaged in conversations about the future of Knowsley. We have so much to offer!
@SuellaBraverman
@RishiSunak
Then you’re going the wrong way about it. Have loads of ideas for you, that might actually work… safe routes, resettlement programmes, speed up processing. Inject some compassion, into the process.
Thank you so much to all the
#westlancs
Labour members who took the time to come and see me this morning, for a chat and a cuppa. Great to meet everyone and had some really positive conversations.

@GillianKeegan
Another kid here who grew up in
#Knowsley
and I still live there. I thrived under the last Labour government and our Labour led council are doing their utmost to meet the challenges your government incessantly throw our way. We succeed in spite of you.
We only went and did it! Whitefield Ward,
#kirkby
has gained an excellent representative. Cllr Bennett is true gent and will work so hard for our community. It’s been a pleasure being his agent! Well done
@GBennett4Labour

It is Labour members and Knowsley people that our next MP will be accountable to. So, I am so proud to be backed by Labour Knowsley members and the community. I have worked, cried, laughed, and campaigned, with every one of these wonderful people for many years. Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who has shown their support so far.
I am pleased to say I am now on the longlist!

Extensive progress is being made on Kirkby's new town centre retail development ahead of the summer opening. Focus will then shift to the delivery of a new multi-screen cinema and other food and drink outlets. The development will provide hundreds of jobs
Not the result I hoped for today for myself, but I’m bloody made up for my
@knowsleylabour
colleagues today! Brilliant results for
@SeanDonnelly01
@mattyrawlinson
@chantellelunt
and Megan Dever too. Overall a great day for Labour in Knowsley. Congratulations to all of you.🌹

@MerseyPolice
This is why your language and your colleagues language matter. This is what happens when you sow division and use vulnerable people for your own scapegoating. I’m surprised you know where
#Knowsley
is. The levelling up department can’t seem to find it.
How blessed I am, to have such amazing friends and colleagues. Thank you so much for all your help, encouragement, support and advice, this week and always. You know who you are. X
A vacancy has arisen in Whitefield Ward, due to the previous Independent Councillor’s persistent non-attendance. A by-election has been called. Rob would be a present, capable and committed Councillor for the Ward. Vote Robert Owens for Whitefield on Thursday 21 March! 🌹
Thanks to all the Labour Knowsley members and friends who, have been out in the cold, or on the phones chatting to members. What a team!
Special thanks to the members we spoke to for taking the time to speak to us and for the many cups of tea ☕️ 🥶
Brilliant once again from
@KnowsleyCouncil
! The Moments of Light performance in
#Kirkby
towny, to mark the start Knowsley’s 50th birthday year, was fantastic! So many people braved the cold. Definitely worth it. Enjoyed by all. I’m off to thaw out 🥶☕️

Unless they start providing safe routes and speed up the application process, the boats will keep on coming and vulnerable people will keep taking perilous journeys. They know it too, but the actually like having a marginal group to distract from their other failings.

@LiamThorpECHO
And who do you think pays for foster care? I can promise you, providing a child with a meal and supporting families in this way, costs a lot less than local authority care.
The DEC is launching an urgent appeal today in response to the crisis in Afghanistan.
95% of people in Afghanistan do not have enough to eat. 1 million children are at risk of dying in the coming months.

So under your logic, Ukrainian refugees should have stayed in Poland, then? France take many more refugees per head than we do. As do many other EU nations.
Brilliant! We won!
@SME4LABOUR
, thank you. Gutted I couldn’t be there but, so proud to be part of the

committee. All fantastic Labour people and tireless advocates for our armed forces community. Thank you everyone for your ongoing support. 🌹
Being a councillor for Whitefield ward these past 4 years, have been the privilege of my life. I have worked with some of the most incredible people, in our community and beyond… from the amazing council officers, who are so 🧵 1/

She is already in a position of power. These kids have woken up to the power of unity in a common goal. Now that will terrify the establishment.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

Being elected by your community to represent them is a great privilege and a responsibility that I take extremely seriously. Quite often, particularly at election time, we shout about the big things we have achieved. 1/3
Great to hear from

Dangerous, divisive and blatantly racist and Islamophobic. The Tories are not fit to govern. The mistrust in politics and politicians that they are sewing undermines our democracy and disenfranchises the electorate. They have got to go! 🧵
Tory MP Lee Anderson discussing Sadiq Khan on GB News:

Women are more vulnerable to COVID-19 related social and economic effects. This is due to gender inequalities that still exist. The imbalance of Childcare, gender pay gap, access to health, domestic abuse, caring responsibilities, sexual harassment, sexual violence...1/2

My heart breaks every time we hear these stories. More needs to be done and the answer is not in the

Kent Refugee Action Network, said "There have now been dozens of deaths associated with this route and the government's chaotic approach has only served to make it even more dangerous". We have called for measures such as humanitarian visas.
