The day my mum died, a nurse said to me 'one day, it may be weeks or months or years, you will find yourself singing in the shower again. Your heart will still be broken but it will also feel like singing'. 4 months on I just remembered her saying this as I sang in the shower.

Last day out I had with my mum before she died was to Funny Girl. We went to see Sheridan in her dressing room after for a chat & my mum was obsessed to meet #Darius so Sheridan introduced them. It was Glenda's finest hour. He was a delight to her. RIP 💕

@rickygervais My parents died last year. My fave memory of my dad was when he said to me 'that fella has done well (nodding to you on TV) 'I see him everywhere. To think he started as an office manager in Slough' - he truly believed The Office was a documentary. Makes me laugh all the time.

Survived my retreat. I did a week no phone, sugar, booze, caffeine, TV. Laughed and cried. Got so much sorted out. Made friends for life. Lost 7lbs and 6cm off my waist. And about 20 stone in emotional baggage. Best week of my life.

I got an anon #Valentines card every year for 45 years. I guess if my yearly #swalk card doesn't arrive tomorrow I will know it was my dad. He never confessed even last year when he was dying a card appeared in my bag at the hospital. Bloody great parenting what a dude. #love

I bought some pressies this morning. Wrapped them and wrote a little bit about my mum on each then dropped them to the gift part of the local food bank. Not sure what's changed but something did. I felt lighter.

I've always chosen to be honest about my #grief of losing mum and dad. Today someone mentioned that 'it's three years since they died, surely you should be feeling 'back to normal' now? So I asked them to send me the grief schedule. Funnily enough it hasn't arrived. #notimeline

Next week marks a year since dad died & 18 months since mum died. I didn't think I could go on. But I have. I moved on own to the coast, joined a choir, got back to writing, got back to work. I learned that you can find a new tribe at 45. #Grief #life #love

When you have a baby you get maternity/paternity leave and I think that's absolutely right. When a parent dies and you are left caring for the elderly parent left behind you get nothing. I support the new loneliness ministers suggestions but more needs to be done to help #carers
