The panic around touching fentanyl is part of a long-standing cultural narrative that envisions the bodies of people who use drugs as poisoned and dangerous. This is stigma at its worst. Here, Chad Sabora touches Fentanyl without incident. Journalists, take note. #WTFentanyl.

This is outrageous. Destabilizing pain patients to the point of ICU admission wonāt stop overdose.
1/ Another patient being tapered off of opioid therapy, another hash mark for PROP!. 20ās male, with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, on non-invasive mechanical ventilation, dilated cardiomyopathy. Pain from broken hardware following failed fusion. Opioid x 10 yrs. 300 MME.

Historians of science use the term āagnotologyā to mean the social construction of ignorance. I think about that term every time I read about our egregious lack of testing. We donāt know what we donāt know which makes this crisis that much scarier. #Covid_19.

Pharmacists today can do much more than count, pour, lick, and stick. We should create systems in community pharmacy that enable them to use their expertise in clinical care and *gasp* get reimbursed for it.
@rxkeyholder @PhlawlessPharm PharmDs are incredibly valuable and patients deserve pharmacists (who are gatekeepers to many aspects of care, CC: @Liz_Chiarello) that are skilled in more than checking hundreds of prescriptions a day. How would you implement a BSPharm and PharmD into schools again?.

Thanks @anamardoll for this important insight into the world of pain patients. Imagine not only living with pain, but also coping with the constant fear that your doctor will not adequately treat your pain if it gets worse. Pain patients deserve better.

Passive #fentanyl exposure is a myth. This week, over 350 experts signed a letter demanding retraction of a news article that perpetuated this fiction. Here, @clairezagorski explains where this insidious myth came from and why it is so harmful.

Opioids have a legitimate place in pain treatment. If you doubt that, just read this thread. As the opioid settlements wrap up, it is critical to remember that stopping doctors from prescribing and forcing patients off their meds will not solve the #opioidcrisis.
If you have benefited from long-term opioid therapy, please share on this thread. I would like testaments of those who use opioids and have a better quality of life so I can add this on the pain website I'm creating. Thank you Warriors-love to you allšš.
