It's the feast of St Thomas Aquinas tomorrow, which means I plug this extraordinary illustration from Stories of the Saints. When we got to it, one of my children regarded it quietly for several seconds and, without a trace of his usual puckishness, said, "I want to be a saint."

A hill I will die on: LGBTQ people are not "out there" beyond our parish walls. They're not "the world" we're "shielding" our children from. They're in our pews. They are some of our schoolchildren. They're the neighbors who slip anonymously in the back hoping to ease an ache.1/

My favorite part of the Divine Mercy story is how St Faustina was distressed about how the painting wasn't as beautiful as her vision (actually I think she said it was ugly) and when she told Jesus this He was literally like, "Yeah, I know it's bad, but my Mercy is still here."
