Very inspiring to meet so many German Catholics who love Pope Benedict XVI. They told me those leading their Church toward schism are "loud", but not representative. Another note: they were also distinctively young, a sign German Catholicism’s future is in Benedict’s mold.

The Catholic Church doesn’t have a “ban” on ordaining women. It affirms that it has no power to do so. This is an important difference, and when one prefers to use the former, more inaccurate description, you wonder why they choose to do so.

Beautiful witness and practice of the most forgotten corporal work of mercy. What's stopping other Catholic schools or even parishes from organizing their young men to do something like this?

Kind of insane that Rachel Maddows is describing Vance as an abortion "absolutist" when I'm sure many pro-life Catholics are wishing that were actually true after his public acceptance of the abortion pill last week.

So many of our problems in the Church stem from an inability to hold two realities together simaltaneously. Truth & charity. Justice & mercy. Being & action. Love & discipline. Evangelization & clarity. They're always pit against each other in a fundamentally non-Catholic way.

An increasing number of German Catholics don’t want to fund the post-Synodal Way trajectory; but the only way to not pay the ‘church tax’ is to officially disaffiliate from the German Church — and risk losing access to the sacraments. My latest @NCRegister .

Apologies if this makes me an "integralist" or something, but they should not repeatedly air commercials of horror movies where a mom becomes some kind of demon and attacks her kids during a professional basketball game on a Sunday afternoon.

Reminder that Pope Francis has called the Synodal Way elitist, ideological, unhelpful and not serious.

Dear US Catholics: This is a superb report on what is really happening with the Catholic Church's synodal process. Ignore other disinfo and propaganda:

I think a lot of people are going to focus on the specific proposals coming out of #SynodalerWeg , which makes sense. But I think the even deeper issues are: -the fundamental theology that animates the project -and the truly Orwellian measures taken to suppress dissent
