Clubhouse for members only is not enough, wouldnβt be sustainable imo. However, I do think there is a world where this works from a hospitality/experiential standpoint. Would need partners for sure, but very possibleβ¦
I can't believe I'm saying this but... I think @BoredApeYC physical clubhouse could be their most profitable business unit π° A low cost side-quest turned into a Top 100 Global Franchise. I love IRL and always have a fantastic time at ApeFest. But, unfortunately I had to miss it this year, and that's just one of many club and business related reasons they should open a physical Clubhouse. β
BAYC IS A GLOBAL CLUB A physical Clubhouse would serve as a global HQ that many members would make pilgrimages to, in addition to serving as a regular hub for local members. After the flagship Clubhouse is opened, BAYC should franchise the concept, enabling entrepreneurs throughout the club to open a local Clubhouse. More on that later. β
IRL CLUB IS A SIDE QUEST A side quest that could be one of their best, if not best, revenue drivers with low capital costs, small team and resource requirements and low risk. While the upside of a single corporate location is limited and would likely end up being member utility, maybe a loss leader, franchising the concept across the globe would scale with a very small team with little risk and a lot of upside. Could scale to >100 locations with initial launch team and generate high margin revenue for BAYC, LLC. The club, ApeFest and ongoing utility could be fully funded from franchise royalties and brand sponsorships - for which the Clubhouses present additional brand collaboration opportunities and inventory. The Clubhouse franchise provides a plan B in the event that revenue from gaming doesn't grow and sustain. β
EXECUTIONAL RISK There is executional risk. It's likely that some of the individual franchise locations will fail. However, it's highly unlikely that the franchisor would fail here. 90-95% of Franchise businesses are successful and while to truly succeed and sustain - the businesses would need to be profitable at a location/unit level, the franchisor in this hypothetical is really set up to succeed. Unlike most small business startups, which do fail at a high rate; BAYC is an established billion dollar brand with thousands of fans across the globe. Hundreds of those fans proven entrepreneurs and operators. While there is executional risk with most business ventures, a Clubhouse division scales far less risk than Otherside. π¦§BOTTOM LINE𦧠Again, I love IRL as much as anyone, and perhaps a business operator with club or restaurant experience could spin one up and run it well. Good thing we have dozens if not hundreds of these in place. This is important enough that a team, at least a PM/VP should be brought in to lead the initiative. However, outside of someone leading - the remainder of the SGA is already in place from bookkeeping to partnerships. A Clubhouse division would provide upside of a great profit center while also providing ongoing opportunities for IRL magic as well as retail distribution for many of the MBA brands. I'll share another post with additional thoughts tomorrow - wanted to get this copy/pasta-esc response out to my good friend & co-host. We'll be discussing the Clubhouse tomorrow on Coffee - join us at 8AM EST βοΈπ
