I spent half an hour with a distraught patient today. They waited 9 months for OPA to be seen by a PA. PA couldn’t understand the recent scan result and the patient was no further forward in their treatment and symptoms not addressed. The NHS is being diluted all around us.

Unpopular opinion - Marsch needs time. The squad is in a transitional period and needs to adapt. The transfers need time to bed. Obviously this cannot come at the cost of relegation but if he can keep us up it’s not unrealistic to kick on next season with the new signings

Patient under Gastro for Coeliac. Coeliac dietician orders bloods - shows low B12 and Folate. Dietician writes to us asking (GP) whether this needs investigating or treating. Letter takes weeks to arrive and to be actioned. Pop to the office next door and ask your own team?

What a surprise!!! Pharmacists are excellent clinicians - we need them to do their intended jobs in the community or primary care fails. Retraining them to carry out roles because there
aren’t enough doctors is swapping one problem for another. Same goes for paramedics.
A surge in recruitment for roles other than doctors in GP practices has left one in three chemists without a permanent pharmacist

They had the report. They couldn’t understand the report, I’m afraid. The patient is a HCP and had to explain some of the terms to the PA. It’s not the PAs fault but the system should not be putting PAs and the patient in this position. It’s appalling.

Guidance is to treat a uti empirically without waiting for MSU results on first presentation if I’m not mistaken though. Patient should have been given a hospital script during pre op not to wait days for a result and then ask to see GP, surely?

Next time you moan about not being able to get a GP appointment remember that there are patients who book and don’t turn up. 208 doctor appointments missed and a total of 586 clinician appointments missed in 6 months at our surgery

Maybe look beyond the question and why the patient is asking the question? It could actually mean they are concerned about the size of the scar, the risk of infection or how that translates to pain. Instead of judging them, maybe look at the root of their question.

People need to be made aware that their GPs and NHS services are unlikely to carry out routine follow up or prescribe relating to procedures where patients have gone abroad privately. Surgeons (even privately) may refuse to operate to sort out complications.
