#DearManager
Managing an artiste’s career requires interaction with people of all personality types under many pleasant and some unpleasant circumstances.
The hardest part about representing artistes is being patient... with your client(s), gatekeepers and patrons.
The last 8 years, working with the “most powerful artist in the world” was challenging and so far, the most fulfilling years of my professional life.
I am moving on now and ready to take on more challenges and break new grounds.
Brymo’s Yellow album is a pure work of art, time, blood and sweat.
The team fell and rose, became stronger working on this project.
Brymo was at his darkest, yet atop his brilliance working on the album. Scary, I must say.
Mikkyme even fell ill. 😊
Yellow is the new chapter!
Today, Brymo is named one of UN’s World Food Forum Champions to help in engaging and empower youth worldwide to find new, actionable, innovative, and inclusive solutions to current and future agri-food challenges. To help end hunger in our world. Congratulations
@BrymOlawale
You can say anything about Brymo, but you see that musical greatness? you can't shit on it, man is a maestro, a genius, a wizard!
Watched this performance at Terra Kulture, I was blown away, I had chills all over.
A penis has a sad life. His hair is mess; his family is nuts. His next-door neighbor is an ass-hole; his best friend is a p*ssy and his owner beats him habitually.
Maybe if he wasn’t such a d*ck he’d have a better life.
The good people of Cake Lagos love the 9 album so much they came in during rehearsal today to surprise Brymo and the team with a customized cake gift and an handwritten note.
As time goes on, you’ll understand. What lasts, lasts; what doesn’t, doesn’t. Time solves most things. And what time can’t solve, you have to solve yourself.
Goldie gave me 250k in 2008 to rent my first apartment.
Kefee made me eat starch and banga for the first and only time - 2008.
Tosyn recommended me to Banky W; got my first major (solo) gig as a music professional - 2008/2009.
May their beautiful souls continue to rest in peace.
In 2018 after listening/A&R session of Oṣó, I and
@Mikkyme
looked at each other, worried.
"Wetin
@BrymOlawale
wan write for subsequent projects?".
Then

recording process started...
Mikky said: Blarque, we need to outdo Oṣó.

To be successful, artiste manager should be egoless, tenacious, thick-skinned, ready and able to advocate tirelessly behind the scenes on behalf of her/his client. Bearing in mind that her/his job is a thankless one, still.
“Introverts tend to have two distinct personalities: a private one and a public one, which is why they can be talkative in comfortable settings, like home, and quiet elsewhere.”
Makes sense.
As talent managers, we are not in the limelight, we can’t get drunk at events, we represent the artistes, therefore we are responsible for them. We get dirty so they stay clean.
Someday in the nearest future, the story would be told of how a simple request to

escalated into one that had Nigerians demanding better government policies, and positive change in general because the government failed to accede. But for now, we say

"Unlike what most people think, music isn’t just vibes and endless nights of ‘turn up.’ Music is a product, which obeys all the laws of life... They obey all the laws of business, life and more."

Managers must focus on the artiste’s career, and keep the artiste from being distracted by the frustrations that goes with pursuing a competitive career. The artiste too must maintain a focus on goals and it is the challenge of the manager to keep them motivated.
As an independent artiste, establish and dominate your brand. Make it obvious what you want to be known for or known as. Understand that if you ignore this completely, the public will inevitably create the brand for you.
Will: It is exciting God. We’re going on a road trip.
God: I can’t go on road trip.
Will: Why not? If you can do anything, surely you can go on a trip.
God chuckled. “Going on a trip implies there is a place that you are not...”
Will: Sometimes God can be a smartass 🤦🏾♂️
Understand that people come in and out of your life in different ways so take a long-term approach to relationship building and relate to people in the right way. Do not let one hater run your game keep you back.
