We receive 100+ pitches a game and throw/block 1-3 times. Stealing one strike on the

hitter making it 0-2 changes the outcome of games.

The outcomes you can and will create from the receiving side alone is in large part why we focus on “receiving” more than blocking and throwing (at the higher levels).

Situations call for different catching stances. I switch to a right knee down secondary to prioritize the K and still get the runner, others I’m in a normal primary, and my left knee down primary for endurance + Ks.
