Remember a few months ago when the Loudoun County School Bd changed the MATA admissions process from merit to lottery? Old process: résumé, Algebra 1 or higher, counselor recommendation, career goals statement, PSAT scores & transcript. Selection by committee. New process: Algebra 1, GPA & PSAT scores, on-time graduation date. Selection by lottery. With the far simpler new process, applications have increased - shocker! - and somehow this is supposed to help students with disabilities, based on absolutely no studies or data whatsoever.
