For the past couple of years, I've been working on an independent animated pilot, Kelly and the Kung Fu Gators! It's inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but from the perspective of the girl sidekick!

Dear men complaining about She-Ra,
The animation industry has heard your complaints and we’re taking them into consideration. We promise the Care Bears reboot will have tons of boobs. You’re welcome.
Nothing makes my soul leave my body faster than a non artist wanting to debate AI. “But what if it was ethical” ok well it’s not. People are using it to destroy careers, spread misinformation and to make revenge porn of teenage girls. Are the Shrimp Jesus's worth it?
The animation industry kept Hollywood afloat during the pandemic. The money these corporations make off of our hard work keeps going up while our wages and schedules continue to shrink. It's time for a change.

Voice Acting opportunity! I'm hiring voice actors for a small independent pilot. Paid, non union, must live in Los Angeles or have a high quality home recording studio. Reply with your voice acting reel or DM me your reel!
I love indie animation, I'm proud of the indie work I've done, but I'm indifferent to the idea of indie animation as a 'solution' to the industry. People are always going to need to fight for fair working conditions and healthcare. 'Going indie' doesn't change that.
I'm Kristen, and I've been a storyboard artist, writer and assistant director in animation! When I first started, this was an industry where people could make an honest living. I know it can be that again if we

🧵 Jimmy Kimmel bringing out members of IATSE, saying LA is a union town, and showing solidarity made me very emotional. It was a really touching moment. And then he made that joke about animation. Something about how voters just let their kids fill out the animation ballot?
Ok I have an animation hot take for students: Make and finish as many cringy, self indulgent short films as you can. Yes figure drawing is important, but shorts really are the best way to learn the craft and if you're not learning this stuff to tell stories what's the point?
I'm seeing a lot of doom and gloom tweets from my fellow animation people, and I just want to say: You have a union. You ARE your union. If you're feeling hopeless, get involved.
Here are some of the boards I did for the
#Ducktales
season 2 finale! It's weird looking back at them because WOW have my drawings changed, but it's so cool seeing them in the final episode!
I'm amazed by Ben's bravery and proud to have worked with him on DuckTales. I no longer work at Disney but as a former employee and a queer animation artist I'm heartbroken by Disney's actions.

#DisneyDoBetter
I am a LGBT animation writer at Disney and this is why I want the company I love to take a stand against the "Don't Say Gay" bill.

If you see tweets that say something like "RIP Animators! This AI tool is going to destroy your job!" Just know that it's (probably) someone trying to sell their own courses on how to use AI. They WANT you to dunk on them so that you quote tweet and promote their grift.
Here are some scenes from the
#SVTFOE
finale that had to be cut for time! Here Mina is contemplating what she's going to do now that the war is over. Eddie and an unnamed monster try to convince her to let love into her life, and she's having NONE OF IT.
I think the reason some non artists are so fascinated by AI is because they view art as a kind of magic trick. If you’ve ever drawn in public, you’ve experienced someone coming up to you and going “Wow, did you draw that!? You didn’t trace?!? CAN YOU DRAW ME????”

Kelly and the Kung Fu Gators is premiering March 16th! It's an independent animated pilot that a parodies Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but from the perspective of April O'Neil. Subscribe to the youtube channel and watch the trailer below!
The episode Ponymonium was supposed to be a shot for shot remake of The Shining, but it was 2 hours overtime so we had to cut a few scenes.

Have you signed the Animation Guild petition yet? You don’t need to work in animation to sign, you just need to care about the people making your favorite cartoons!!!

My only entertainment industry "LA is fake" hot take is that I went to a meetup for female editors in the industry and it was a bunch of delightful nerds talking about the A League of Their Own tv show. Most of "the industry" is just nerds who want to be paid fairly 🤷♀️
This pissed me off. I’m TAG, & I’ve been laid off due to the writers strike. I’m in full support of WGA. What WGA is fighting for is what everyone should be fighting for. Drew Barrymore continuing her show is a slap in the face not only to WGA but to other union members like me.
The
@DrewBarrymoreTV
Show is a WGA covered, struck show that is planning to return without its writers. The Guild has, and will continue to, picket struck shows that are in production during the strike. Any writing on “The Drew Barrymore Show” is in violation of WGA strike rules.
Here's a sequence I storyboarded for season 3 of DuckTales! This was for The Last Harp of Mervana. Sharing boards from the show has become a little more complicated in 2020 (like most things) but I'll be sharing some of my favorite sequences in the next few weeks 💰🦆

My indie animated pilot 'Kelly and the Kung Fu Gators' is now on youtube! If you're passionate about indie animation and want to help support the project, all you have to do is watch! Liking and commenting on the video is a HUGE help.

I wasn't going to watch the live action Avatar show anyway, but I think it's funny that the showrunner's reasoning for changing stuff is always 'this was put in because it's a silly little cartoon for babies!' When actually it's just how basic character arcs work.
You’d think after getting called out by one of their creative leads would make them stop doing this shit but they’re still fucking doing it dude I’m going insane
Yesterday my coworkers and I were talking about memes, and I tried describing this image. I ended up laughing so hard I cried and I couldn't finish describing it so I have to put it on twitter that's the rule.
You guys Lightyear was so bad. I usually avoid talking shit about animated projects but holy shit that movie sucked. The worst parts of Marvel movies mixed with the most cloying Pixar tropes. If it's supposedly a kids favorite movie from 1995, why was there no Will Smith rap?
Disney leadership reportedly put a large part of the failure of ‘LIGHTYEAR’ down to the same-sex kiss.
Continuous notes were then given to animators to make Riley come across as “less gay” in ‘INSIDE OUT 2’
(Source: )
Some version of this joke is made very year, and it sucks every time.We were on the picket lines along side the WGA and SAG-AFTRA, because we know how important solidarity is. We are struggling in the aftermath of the strikes alongside our IATSE brothers and sisters.
If you’re an art school student or a recent high school grad and you’re considering taking a gap year, check out this thread. Particularly if you want to work in animation, I have some advice on what kind of online classes to take to still get an art school experience.

Let's talk about my alma mater,

I’m not dunking on any specific show btw. I thought this by I was watching the OG Cowboy Bebop last night, and it’s such a beautifully done show that lets the visuals speak for themselves. Maybe it’s different for comedy, but even classic Simpsons had breathing room!
Ok, I know everyone has moved on from this but hear me out... There IS lot you can learn from watching classic TV, this guy was just a dick about it. Now DON’T YELL AT ME UNTIL YOU FINISH READING MY THREAD!!! (1/9)

I stopped watching James Somerton after his video on the Jeffrey Dahmer Netflix show. He went on a strange rant about teenage girls in fandom, which felt weirdly personal. IMO it missed the forest for the trees, and seemed motivated by his own contempt for girls in fandom spaces

For the record, no I don’t think AI will destroy the animation industry. But studio CEOs are sure gonna try to make that happen because they’re about as smart as the average YouTuber when it comes to this issue.
