In my 30 years at the club as a greenkeeper . I’ve never seen the 14th and 17th green looking this good, full grass cover and firm. You can really see all the hard work is paying off.

Work started on Monday at 4:30 am with Andy out with the pro core soild tining the greens. Follow by a light top dressing ,brushed and then a spray to promote the growth and help the greens through this dry period. today the greens where rolled to give a smooth surface.

We now have delivery four new Huxley tee mats on the 1st,2nd,10th and 11th tees. These mats you can tee up as normal or play from the deck. We also welcome feedback from members on there opinion on them.

A video of 17th green after 12mm of rainfall and how firm it is . It’s a prime example of the hard work billy and his team have done to improve the surface and playability. In my 30 years being at the club,I’ve never see this green so firm after heavy rain. Well done.👍

pedestrian mowers as we struggled to get the triplex mowers out as ground conditions haven’t been ideal. Good to see them looking so healthy especially after all the rain we’ve had over the past few weeks

Unfortunately the greenstaff felt that the high flats you see from the 11th tee ruined the view, so we decided to remove them. No buildings or residents where harmed and have been moved to a better environment. 😂😂😂😂

After green and approaches renovations had been completed it was time to move onto greens surrounds, as you can see the amount of thatch that being ripped out to make a seed bed for new grass. To maximise the removal of thatch,dry weather conditions where needed. Enjoy.

reinstatement work on the bunkers this morning using our new tiller to loosen up the sand after 45mm of rain from yesterday and last night. This brings overall 85 mm since Tuesday. The course has been holding up very well under those conditions.

The drainage work at the 2nd : the main drain lines have been dug out and is ready for pipe and gravel. We have also uncovered old drains that where basically filled with hardcore stones with no pipe at all.

The bunker on the 3rd green has now been turfed. Re-shaped and re-designed to give a more aesthetic look, playable and better maintenance . Once the turf has grown in and established itself , a new layer of bunker sand will be added .

Yesterday we finished of the work on the approaches .So after a scarification, clean up, overseed and rooting zone mix over the worse areas, then given a double top dress to seal it all in. Great work from the greenstaff during there maintenance week and a lot of work done.

After the work on the greens, we have focused our efforts towards the approaches and green banks. scarifying process thins out and removes surplus thatch that has developed over the years. Removing much of the thatch that has developed is vital as the grass needs space to grow.

You will see the rake was lifting the grass up as much as 5” on the semi rough and green banks. The 6th fairway is the most shocking of all with the years of cutting and little work done. It has caused the grass to grow flat but in time can be fixed to produce a tighter cut.

Operation: Kingsknowe GC clean up. The 2nd fairway has been brushed, blown and cut twice to get it as best as we can. Still wet and soft where the large pool of water was but we will let that part dry out on its own. There still the bunkers and some small areas to clean up.
