This is an absolutely massive announcement that cannot be understated👇.
Breaking News: The WHO approved the first ever malaria vaccine, which could save tens of thousands of children in sub-Saharan Africa. The quest for this vaccine has been underway for a hundred years, a WHO official said, and is a "historic event."

Dr. Fauci worked directly with Ebola virus disease patients in the Special Clinical Studies Unit at NIH; the President stared directly at a solar eclipse sans eye protection. I'll stick with Team Fauci.
Confirming Washington Post reporting-- WH openly discrediting Fauci, a top health official/member of the coronavirus task force. Statement from a White House official: "Several White House officials are concerned about the number of times Dr. Fauci has been wrong on things.".

@DocSchmadia General public service announcement: viruses don’t care about ethnicity or international borders. Please keep this in mind as we struggle to deal with this outbreak.

@DrJenGunter Viral load would be odd given the recent data from kids which didn’t correlate with increased disease severity. If I said that we’re looking into this conundrum would that provide any solace?.

My daughter is two and would be able to verifiably say she had spent a large part of her life reading about Covid. She can’t read yet though so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
I know a fair bit about COVID. I spent a fairly large part of my life reading research about COVID. And I'm a good reader—it's part of my job. I'm not doing any epidemiology on my own. The problem is that ACIP's recommendations on vaccine prioritization don't match the research.

@TheRickWilson This could be a historical global health game changer if the data holds up in larger populations. But this early data is quite promising.

Call for mandatory vaccinations for students, staff and faculty at Manitoba universities this fall. I support these efforts to help protect our communities both on and off our campuses.
MOFA President Dr. Scott Forbes will be on @680CJOB at 7:05am, @CBCInfoRad at 8:10am and @globalwinnipeg at 8:30am talking about our call for mandatory vaccination for students returning to campus. Read more here:

Dr. Reimer has been the dictionary definition of a leader during the pandemic. While I appreciate her accolades, her and the immunization task force deserve the highest of praise for all of their efforts and messaging.
I want to add a huge thank you to @Todd_Friesen, @Matthew_Froese, @ccarr39, @SouradetS & @KindrachukJason here in MB. You have done incredible work keeping Manitobans informed. I've only ever met one of you in person but I look forward to buying you all drinks in the future.

🧵 A THREAD IN WHICH I REVIEW BEING BITTEN BY VARIOUS ANIMALS. 1. GOAT 🐐 . Overall a soft and gummy bite, often with a faint bouquet of fermented grain. Near-prehensile lips make the whole experience rather cute. Only downside is the painful accompanying headbutt. 4/5 stars.

In Saskatchewan, we can pick up 5 rapid tests per person free at any public library. Rapid tests have their limitations but they are a helpful tool for reducing risk to my community. It’s shameful negligence that the US is just getting that this should be a priority.

That’s certainly one way to fail regulatory approval.
Они обалдели!. The Sputnik V vaccine Ad5 vector is evidently replication competent. The makers apparently neglected to delete E1, so getting this vaccine means being infected with live adenovirus 5. Hence Brazil’s regulator correctly rejected it.

As an FYI for Manitoba folks, the TPR was 9.4% province-wide today👇.
The Covid test positivity rate in the US is 9.5%. That's nearly double the rate the WHO says should lead regions to consider not lifting containment measures and not reopening schools and some businesses. I'm scared to think how much worse this could get over the next 73 days.

He and his country have been holding their own against one of the largest military’s in the world for weeks. He can wear whatever the hell he wants - he’s earned that right.
I understand times are hard, but doesn't the President of the #Ukraine own a suit? I don't have much respect for current members of the U.S. Congress either, but I still wouldn't address them wearing a t-shirt. I wouldn't want to disrespect the institution or the Unites States.
