I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to provide a piece on the psychology of confidence building for Big Think's latest special issue. The issue also has articles by @RyanHoliday, @EricMarkowitz, and @johndoerr. Well worth a moment (or two) of your time!

A brilliant audit of philosophy's many schools of thought surrounding happiness. I could listen to Jonny Thomson (@philosophyminis) talk about this stuff for hours. That he managed to distill so many ideas into a coherent, enjoyable 10 mins is bonkers talent. Well done, mate!

Since Cal Newport isn't on social media, we have to spread the slow productivity gospel. Its golden rule: "Do less, work at a natural pace, and obsess over quality." Hang the attention economy. Take time to enjoy the things you do, and find pride in mastery, not metrics.

“A genuinely intelligent system should be able to do a sanity check." - @GaryMarcus I spoke with Marcus regarding his concerns over the AI, the industry's shortcomings, and why we see intelligence where none exists. It all comes down to an imaginary chicken named Henrietta...

@MiaAI_Builder @ipfconline1 @freethinkmedia @Roboticskyline @Nicochan33 @PawlowskiMario @Khulood_Almani @bamitav @MiaAI_Builder Agreed. As the headline suggests, I am both hopeful and skeptical over the proposition. Hopeful because it can provide at least some support at scale. Skeptical because so many qualities of healthy, human connections can't be conveyed in a textbox.

Well said, @AdamMGrant! We're drowning in info. Building trust and integrity in these institutions (+education) is the only way to find the room to breathe. Yet, these institutions seem to have fallen into the belief that the incentives all flow in the opposite direction.

The root cause of our divides is not a lack of information. It’s a lack of trust. Faith in media, government, and the law has plummeted. People dismiss the message when they doubt the source. A key to healing America is increasing the neutrality and integrity of institutions.

@QuoteResearch's work is an important reminder of why AI and Google searches can never replace thoughtful people doing the hard investigative work. They are necessary for separating the empirical from the fabricated or mistaken in our information-overloaded world.
