This is awesome. I've never felt compelled to read a Bill in my life. I'm seriously considering cashing in some BTC (£1.6k) to have a physical copy sent to every MP in parliament. It's not hyperbole to say that this single Act would change the course of the UK 🇬🇧🚀💪
0.1% Growth. We shouldn't accept this. Today, we're releasing the LFG Bill. The Bill by-passes the blockers in planning and fast-tracks the building of Nuclear Power Stations, Overhead Cables and Data Centres. Join LFG and help us make growth legal again🧵👇

@Liv_Boeree It's memetic evolution / Darwinian negative entropy - all the way down? Always has been.

I love this guys attitude to business. Came for the tech framework; stayed for the life one.
A unique aspect of the profit sharing program we have at 37signals is that it's weighted exclusively by tenure. This means we have people working in, say, support taking home the same six-figure profit shares as those in programming, design, or operations. That's virtually never the case with equity-grant programs, but we've grown to really like this model. Salary is already set at market rate (except we've raised the floor substantially on support), so there's already a clear separation in take-home pay. And that's totally fine. This isn't a commune or a co-op. But I admit that the most rewarding part of this equation is knowing that we have people in roles like support making hundreds of thousands of dollars, which is pretty rare in our industry, to say the least. But why not? Some of them have been here for a decade or more helping our customers figure out how to get the best from Basecamp or HEY. Anyone who've ever spoken to a support person that really knows their shit will instantly recognize the value of kind, knowledgeable, and patient help. It's surprisingly hard to do well! Surprising, because at the surface, it sounds easy to "just" answer emails about a product that you know well. But anyone who've tried to do that, with 50-60-80 customers per day, for even just a week, know it's not easy at all. People can be rude! Frustrated! Inarticulate about their problem. Demanding. Terse. Short. And it takes real skill to judo those emotions into a good experience. I've done it a lot over time in my career. So I know how hard it is to stay calm and collected. Jason has done it even more. In the first three years of Basecamp, he answered every single customer support request. Eventually topping out at 150 emails/day ON TOP OF DESIGNING AND RUNNING THE BUSINESS. So I think we've institutionally been shaped to highly value the dividends from having an awesome support team. It's such a treat to pay that back in this way.

@dhh I believe the 1A threshold is something like “credible, imminent, unlawful action” Looks good to me. Would like this in the UK 🇬🇧

Never going to complain when somebody does a smart U-turn. Well done, @Ed_Miliband 🙌
We're backing nuclear power for a new era of clean electricity. The Conservatives failed to get new nuclear going for 14 years. Today, we take bold moves to unleash new nuclear technology for the clean power age.

@Liv_Boeree Until X sorts out the TweepCred algorithm, I’m unable to respond to all the dumb responses that argue with this indisputable fact ☝️ Rest assured, I’ve read your responses and think you’re a midwit.

@Yuugure_Made @Liv_Boeree The graph supports that observation. The theory looks to be correct. Liberals care less about those close to them. Don’t assume my politics.

@JoeFromCanadia @Liv_Boeree Missed a bit. Some of us have a lot of pie that we keep within our house. Whole books have been written on this subject. Pie size doesn’t vary much. Some keep more of it nearby. You may be assuming I’m one of them.

@gngrblls2thwall @Liv_Boeree It is because that’s a heat map of the extent to which you’ll distribute a finite resource.

@JoeFromCanadia @Liv_Boeree I also have a dog that I consider to be a social parasite but I love the damn monkey brain hacker anyway.

@gngrblls2thwall @Liv_Boeree Dumb ones maybe. But liberals care less, relative to conservatives, about those close to them is accurate.

@IsabeauVidal @Liv_Boeree 3a was a pie 3b wasn’t a pie Similar result Real life in a social/moral context IS a pie Moral concern ~= social relationship with that thing
