Still reflecting on last night's great #LTHEchat about scholarship of teaching and learning. Want to add another question: what advice or wisdom (or reassurance) would you give to new SoTLers? Mine might be: it's located within your lived-in disciplinary context, not outside it.

@robertotoole @sarahattersley @warwickuni @ArtsWarwick Really good to see the photos Rob, thanks for sharing. Following our chat yesterday, the exploration sessions will be a great way to bring a SoTL-focus in, e.g. how we inform thinking around possibilities for the spaces and evaluate how the sessions worked.

Came late to last night's #LTHEchat but really enjoyed discussions about #Scholarship of T&L. For me, questions remain about what quality and impact mean in SoTL and if we define them too tightly in ways that can be measured, do we lose a sense of the value of SoTL work?

I'm mulling over very similar questions right now too @hintondm . I particularly want to support a very holistic view of #scholarship rather than promote the often restricting, confusing or binary definitions of it. Looking forward to the #LTHEchat tonight.
I'm mulling over what constitutes ‘#scholarship’ and practical steps that might be taken to aid those on #TeachingFocused academic pathways in the planning and advancement of their own scholarship activity in advance of the #LTHEchat tonight 8pm BST #JoinUs #CPD

@Judith_ekn @Tee_Nadan @hintondm @AdvanceHE_chat Yes, I totally agree Judith and that's the narrowed view of critical thinking I was referring to. It's a big (and often frustrating) challenge about how to address that.

@Judith_ekn @Tee_Nadan @hintondm @AdvanceHE_chat Really interesting qs. I think that most people believe they are engaging in critical thinking. Eg conspiracy theorists encourage us to 'open our minds/eyes'. They believe they are the only ones who are critical and know the 'truth'. It's narrowed view of CT we need to address.

Like concept of real models not just role models, highlighted at @AdvanceHE New Transitions webinar. Real suggests ongoing process of striving for ultimate goals and navigating successes, failures, stumbling blocks, etc along way. This has to be important to model to students.

Thank you to all the presenters at @AdvanceHE New Transitions webinar today. Very useful insights shared and questions posed, inc. key one from @hillarygyebi - at this time of transition, how do we inclusively and collaboratively rebuild, renew and reinvent our HE system?
