Watched @Channel4 #GenderWars 3x now & perhaps wish I'd phrased a few things differently but I stand by my contribution & absolutely support the airing of the varied other voices from across the Sex/Gender "debate" spectrum. We need to talk & that may mean breaking ranks to do so

The first top surgeries for women were carried out as early as 1912 with more well-known ones 1945. This is a century-long phenomenon elevated by media and identity movements but there have always been people wishing for breast removal/masculinisation just never in these numbers or official pathways.

I'm not familiar with that saying of Aurelius, however he did say "Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth." and you are welcome to your opinion - I believe in free speech. Marcus Aurelius also said "Be tolerant with others" and "learn to be indifferent to what makes no difference". My cats aren't vegan but rarely agree with dogs anyway.

Like any historian and politician one should be aware of our mixed history and nuanced present. A forebear of mine co-founded the anti-slavery society here and I'm proud of that, I'm proud of our forces during WWII inspiring me to join the army cadets, visiting Belsen liberated by the act of standing of to Hitler - I'm especially proud of our role in founding the Council of Europe & Court of Human Rights, first suggested by Winston Churchill (1943 & 1946) creating a "United States of Europe" that has fostered peace and economic prosperity. It's spin-off, the EU, was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize and 10 countries can't wait to join it. My greatest lack of pride in Britain is still our decision to leave affecting the cultural, educational and economic opportunities, and futures of our youth. Furthermore, for our country previously famed on its welcome of refugees, the shift away from supporting those with less hope than ourselves. The last decade has seen a rise in hate crimes, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia - I'm not proud of that.

I'd rather have a Democrat insurrection than a Republican 6 Jan one any day if this is what they think an insurrection looks like. Perhaps they need more education not less.
🚨President Trump responds to Democrats staging an insurrection at the Department of Education today: “I see Maxine Waters, a low-life, I see all these people, they don't love our Country.”

This is ludicrous! If #Lego is homophobic for having innie and outy parts, then so too are phone and power cables, velcro, pretty much anything that clips together or is built with. @LEGO_Group literally made a Pride set. @Telegraph

Am in Denmark and first time I've ever watched Handball and it was quite a game, fast paced, passionate, occasionally spilling over to infractions. But interesting to watch with Danes for explanations and cheering on the undisputed 4 times in a row world champions

2016 is so last decade. Recent polls suggest only 30% of Britons believe the #Brexit decision to leave was correct (albeit badly implemented), compared to 55% who view it as a mistake. Given the new US administration and policy shifts we'd be better off re-aligning with Europe
Another anniversary, yet still Brexit has not been properly delivered. The time has come to let those of us who started Brexit in 2016 finish the job. Reform stands ready to do just that in 2029.

Augustine is not Jesus but just one interpretation of the Bible. Augustine describes the ordo amoris, order of loves, as God, oneself, one's neighbour, created things. Leviticus & Jesus clearly equate neighbour as yourself and family as community of those that love/obey God NOT flesh and blood. The hierarchy is vertical with God - humanity - animals - objects not a concentric circles of family or America First.

We need better disagreement not the polarised extremes of none (safety) or as much as possible (trolling). Society is about peaceable coexisting disagreement between competing beliefs and ideologies not a dystopic monoculture of same mindedness. Better is openminded discussion
The most dangerous experiment in American history: Raising an entire generation to be afraid of disagreement. "Safe spaces" are creating the most fearful generation we've ever seen. Here's how colleges are setting students up for failure:
