From the start of the decade representing my middle school track team to the end of the decade representing team USA🏃🏼♀️🇺🇸 Lots of changes, but still running with the same passion that little girl had running for her middle school team❤️

14:26.34?!?
Last night was insane🔥
Who would’ve thought these two Iowans that were once shooting for high school all-state times are now the first two Americans to go under 14:30😳 Huge congrats to
@shelbo800
on improving her AR by 10 secs👏
9th in the world
30:18.05
and a 29 second PR😳

I am proud of myself for this one. I stuck my nose in it and hung on like crazy. It was a tough one out there today, but I had fun and came through with a huge step in the right direction.
Last race of the season and first race in the new uniform! Excited to finally announce that I have signed with Nike and the Bowerman Track Club! Can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Heartbroken. This sport can be brutal sometimes. I’m proud of the way I competed, but sometimes your body doesn’t cooperate. Congrats to
@elisecranny13
and
@emilyinfeld
for representing
@teamusa
so well.

Next stop: WORLDS!🇺🇸🔥
I punched a ticket to my first Outdoor Track World Champs in the same stadium that I grew up competing in! And to top it off going 1-2 w my teammate and fellow Iowan
@shelbo800
! Thanks to everyone for coming to support! Drake Stadium is truly magical✨
The track was 🔥 last night! NEW AMERICAN RECORD...(didn’t think I’d say that) Couldn’t have done it without my speedy teammates

So many amazing races last night🔥 📸

Sometimes you have to take chances because you’ll never know if you hold back.
I took a chance for the win and it may not have gone my way, but I’ll always walk away happy from a race that I gave it my all.
However, still extremely excited to podium in a stacked race at USAs!🐯

Happy National Girls & Women in Sport Day! I’m thankful for all the amazing women who have paved the way for us today and excited to continue to bridge that gap.💪🏼🏃🏼♀️

I’m extremely grateful to receive this award today. It’s always an honor to represent Mizzou!
When I first arrived on campus, I never would’ve dreamt of achieving this and I hope this inspires a younger generation of athletes to come!
Three years ago✨ Many people will say that It was unexpected or ask if I even thought I could’ve won before it happened. Looking back on it, it was no surprise that I had a breakthrough race. This was years and years of hard work, perseverance, and sacrifice paying off.
4:00.02...(soo close)😅I need to work on my lean a little.
Howeverr, always happy to walk away with a new PB and some more motivation to get under that 4 min barrier!!
Ending the night with a podium finish for the mixed gender relays🥉😜
And that’s all she wrote⚡️
Wrapped up this crazy 2020 season with a shiny new 800 pr of 2:02.77! Huge thank you to everyone that worked countless hours to make these races happen!
30:47! New PB, Olympic QT, and US

Amazing night all around for our squad last night! Lots of pbs and Olympic qualifier times🔥
Thank you
@soundrunning
for making this event happen!
No one in the stands, but there were still PBs all around last night🔥
4:02.81⚡️for a new PB in the 1500 thanks to my teammate
@shelbo800
for pushing me and huge S/O to
@emily_pritt
for jumping in the 1500 and helping make this all happen!
My grandpa always told me you have to plateau before you break a barrier, and once you’ve broken that barrier that’s your new plateau...until the next breakthrough comes around🏔📈🏃♀️

Karissa Schweizer's past 10 days have been busy. On 9/5, she ran a 14:47.50 5,000m in Zurich. Three days later, she won New York City's Fifth Avenue Mile in 4:14.8. And this evening in Brussels, she ran a 5,000m season's best of 14:36.88 to take 8th in the Diamond League Final.
Update:
During the 5k final at Worlds a couple weeks ago I felt some tightness in my calf before the start of the race and during the race, I felt like my stride wasn’t quite right. With about 2 laps to go, my calf completely seized on me.

First US title!! I don’t know how long it’ll take to set in. After undergoing surgery in the fall, I had no idea what this spring would look like.
RACE DAY⚡️
Tonight we are racing for something bigger than just ourselves. We’re raising money for the Equal Justice Initiative organization (

).
I’ll be racing a 4x1500 where we’ll be aiming to break the American Record and maybe even shooting for the World Record!🙊
Race dayyyy🔥I’ll be racing the 10k tonight with the crew! I haven’t raced this distance since college and excited to take another go at it!
The race starts at 8:15 PT!
Capping off an unforgettable last 4 plus years at Mizzou🎓🐯 2018 has brought on many changes including traveling around the world for races, a new job, and a big move out to Portland! Sad to close this chapter of my life but excited for what’s to come in this next one.

One year ago I ran in my first World Champs final. Although there haven’t been that many races since then, I’ve grown a lot as an athlete. This race reminds of what I’m training for everyday and where I want to be!

Extremely grateful for having the opportunity to get that pre race feeling of putting on your hip numbers (& hoping they are on right😂) In this new normal, we can’t take any opportunities for granted. It’s important to make the most of every chance we get to line up and compete!
Cheers to an unforgettable 2021 season🥳

This past year has been full of many changes with new coaches, a new environment, world class training partners, higher level races, and higher expectations. Shalane has played a huge role in making this transition as smooth as possible.
We wanted to make sure we would ~permanently~ remember our experience in Tokyo together. In case being roommates, in the same event and in the same uniforms wasn’t enough….. we needed just one more thing😉
Rust is officially busted🔥 It was exciting to get the wheels turning again - looks like I need to work on my lean a bit🤷🏼♀️ Felt strong and can’t wait to build on this!

"If you look in the past at world championship races that have been in humidity, you never know what can happen. That excites me. I know that racing in hot + humid conditions is really tough but I also know I can game up & I can do it” –
@KarissaSchweiz4
In October the thought of making it to this start line was up in the air. I just had surgery on my Achilles and all the rehab and cross training ahead was daunting and full of uncertainty.
I began taking each week one at a time and celebrating the little victories along the way.
Dropped down in distance this weekend for a shock to the system and oh boy was it a shock😅

Happy to be sooo close to that 4 flat barrier once again, but even more hungry to take another shot at it😈
Alone we can only do so much, but together we are unstoppable. Even the smallest gestures can go a long way to remind you that you are never alone in this sport.
When you see all the races on deck for tonight😮
Race day: events will be starting at 8pm PST on ! My teammates and I will be starting the night off with some fast 1500s and ending the night with a BTC 4x400😮⚡️

Surround yourself with people who push you to do better and be better🦋
Jumping into a new social/running/work group is hard but very rewarding at the same time. I’ve enjoyed being able to have these other “freshies” to share the experience w and push each other to new heights🏃🏼♀️
