Norms shift in subtle ways. It might sound like a joke, but Trump casually talking about annexing Canada & Greenland helps normalise Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Israel's occupation of Palestine, China's threat of annexing Taiwan. Might makes right in the most naked sense.
